To the Editor: —Dr. Schilder, in writing on "The Somatic Basis of the Neurosis" ( J. Nerv. & Ment. Dis. 70 :502 [Nov.] 1929), has discussed a portion of my work on conditioned reflexes in which I have produced what I have called neuroses. The author admits that "we can find all the phenomena of the neuroses." Such a statement from a competent source I, of course, greatly appreciate. But I must strenuously object to the statements of the author relating to the comparative studies of neuroses in man and in animals. ...

High quality real-time imaging of lungs in vivo presents considerable challenges. We demonstrate here that phase contrast x-ray imaging is capable of dynamically imaging the lungs. It retains many of the advantages of simple x-ray imaging, whilst also being able to map weakly absorbing soft tissues based on refractive index differences. Preliminary results reported herein show that this novel imaging technique can identify and locate airway liquid and allows lung aeration in newborn rabbit pups ...

Years ago, we revealed a novel cytoprotective mediator, stable gastric pentadecapeptide BPC 157, particular anti-ulcer peptide that heals different organs lesions when given as a therapy, native in human gastric juice while maintaining GI-tract mucosal integrity, already tested in trials (ulcerative colitis and now multiple sclerosis). The stomach cytoprotection is the most fundamental concept, stomach cell protection and endothelium protection are largely elaborated, but so far cell, protection ...

Commonly, the angiogenic growth factors signify healing. However, gastrointestinal ulceration is still poorly understood particularly with respect to a general pharmacological/pathophysiological role of various angiogenic growth factors implemented in growth factors wound healing concept. Thereby, we focused on the stable gastric pentadecapeptide BPC 157, a peptide given always alone vs. standard peptidergic angiogenic growth factors (EGF, FGF, VEGF), and numerous carriers. Further, we reviewed how ...

Abstract— The size and complexity of deep neural networks used in AI applications continue to grow exponentially, significantly increasing energy consumption for training and inference by these models. We introduce an open-source package eco2AI to help data scientists and researchers to track the energy consumption and equivalent CO 2 emissions of their models in a straightforward way. In eco2AI we focus on accurate tracking of energy consumption and regional CO 2 emissions accounting. We encourage ...

An algorithm for determining the spatial coordinates and angular orientation of an object with reference emitters using a single calibrated camera is considered. The algorithm is based on a sequential solution of a perspective-four-point task and more precise definition of reference emitter’s spatial coordinates using the Levenberg – Marquardt optimization method. It is shown that while in the camera field of view there are four reference emitters with a priori known distances between them measured ...

Besides classical dipole moments, the metaparticles are characterized by toroidal dipole moments that are important for numerous applications ranging from strong field localizations to anapole modes and the dynamic Aharonov–Bohm effect. On the other hand, the toroidal and electric dipole radiation are undistinguished by external observers due to identical radiation patterns. Therefore, the importance of toroidal dipole moments in multipole expansion is questioned by many researchers. However, a ...
