Single-agent pembrolizumab treatment of hormone receptor-positive metastatic breast cancer (MBC) has demonstrated modest clinical responses. Little is known about potential biomarkers or mechanisms of response to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in patients with HR+ MBC. The present study presents novel immune correlates of clinical responses to combined treatment with CDK4/6i and ICI.

This study investigates the causes of event-dating biases. Two hundred participants provided knowledge ratings and date estimates for 64 news events. Four independent groups dated the same events under different boundary constraints. Analysis across all responses showed that forward telescoping decreased with boundary age, concurring with the boundary-effects model. With guesses removed from the data set, backward telescoping was greatly reduced, but forward telescoping was unaffected by boundaries. ...

Abstract This study examined delay related changes of people's recollections for 11th September 2001. 1481 participants were surveyed 4–24 hours or 10 days after the event. 142 participants were re‐tested in April, 2002. Test‐retest consistency was low after seven months (66.5%). Word counts for open ended descriptions revealed that people wrote significantly more contextual information 10 days after the event than respondents had on 11th or 12th September although no difference was found for retest ...

Transport paths for inhibitor release within a model strontium chromate (SrCrO4) inhibited/epoxy primer have been studied using a combination of tomography techniques. It has been found that the SrCrO4 particles form independent clusters within the model primer. The clusters have a range of fractal dimensions with the largest clusters (a few hundred microns in size) having a fractal dimension of 2.36. Leaching of the SrCrO4 from the primer appears to be initially through direct dissolution of particles ...

X-ray microtomography and serial block face scanning electron microscopy are used to reveal independent clusters of inorganic particles embedded within a polymer. These clusters are interpenetrating, of varying size, and have fractal dimensions that strongly influence transport and structure–property relations. This interpretation forms a baseline for designing hybrid materials for applications in self-healing, drug delivery, and membranes.

The KEAP1/Nrf2 pathway senses and responds to changes in intracellular oxidative stress. Mutations that result in constitutive activation of Nrf2 are present in several human tumors, especially non-small cell lung cancer. Therefore, compounds that inhibit Nrf2 activity might be beneficial in treating patients whose tumors show activation of this pathway. Recent reports suggest that the natural product brusatol can potently and selectively inhibit Nrf2 activity, resulting in cell cytotoxicity, and ...

Staphylococcus aureus remains a great burden on the healthcare system. Despite prescribed treatments often seemingly to be successful, S. aureus can survive and cause a relapsing infection which cannot be cleared. These infections are in part due to quasi-dormant sub-population which is tolerant to antibiotics and able to evade the host immune response. These include Small Colony Variants (SCVs). Because SCVs readily revert to non-SCV cell types under laboratory conditions, the characterization of ...

Machine learning (ML) is providing a new design paradigm for many areas of technology, including corrosion inhibition. However, ML models require relatively large and diverse training sets to be most effective. This paper provides an overview of developments in corrosion inhibitor research, focussing on how corrosion performance data can be incorporated into machine learning and how large sets of inhibitor performance data that are suitable for training robust ML models can be developed through various ...

Maximal systolic endocardial velocity (SEVM) and maximal diastolic endocardial velocity (DEVM) were determined echocardiographically in patients with muscular dystrophy (MD). The SEVM of the muscular dystrophy patients was 5.5 +/- 0.9 cm/sec and the DEVM was 13 +/- 3 cm/sec. The SEVM in MD was significantly less than that seen in age-matched normals (P less than 0.05), persons with myotonia congenita (P less than 0.02), deconditioned patients (P less than 0.001), or older normal persons (P less than 0.05).
