Spinosad is a bacterially derived insect control agent consisting of two active compounds, spinosyns A and D. The objective of this paper is to describe the environmental fate of spinosad in aquatic systems. To this end, several studies performed to meet regulatory requirements are used to study the fate and degradation in individual environmental media. Specifically, investigations of abiotic (hydrolysis and photolysis) and biotic (aerobic and anaerobic aquatic) processes are described. Understanding ...

Abstract Variants in the AUTS2 gene are associated with a broad spectrum of neurological conditions characterized by intellectual disability, microcephaly, and congenital brain malformations. Here, we use a human cerebral organoid model to investigate the pathophysiology of a heterozygous de novo missense AUTS2 variant identified in a patient with multiple neurological impairments including primary microcephaly and profound intellectual disability. Proband cerebral organoids exhibit reduced growth, ...

Stroke incidence is high in end-stage renal disease, and risk factors differ between the dialysis and general populations. However, risk factors and outcomes following renal transplantation remain unclear. We analyzed all adult patients with a functioning renal transplant from 01/01/2007 to 12/31/2012. Data were extracted from the electronic patient record. Variables associated with stroke were identified by survival analyses; demographic, clinical, and imaging and laboratory variables were assessed ...

ABSTRACT Slow rotator galaxies are distinct amongst galaxy populations, with simulations suggesting that a mix of minor and major mergers are responsible for their formation. A promising path to resolve outstanding questions on the type of merger responsible, is by investigating deep imaging of massive galaxies for signs of potential merger remnants. We utilize deep imaging from the Subaru-Hyper Suprime Cam Wide data to search for tidal features in massive [log10(M*/M⊙) > 10] early-type galaxies ( ...

Abstract The existence of a kinematic morphology–density relation remains uncertain, and instead stellar mass appears the more dominant driver of galaxy kinematics. We investigate the dependence of the stellar spin parameter proxy <?CDATA ${\lambda }_{{R}_{e}}$?> λ R e on environment using a marked cross-correlation method with data from the Sydney Australian Astronomical Observatory Multi-object Integral-field Spectrograph (SAMI) Galaxy Survey. Our sample contains 710 galaxies with spatially resolved stellar ...

The effect of three different electrolytes on the efficiency of polypyrrole deposition was studied using Rutherford backscattering spectrometry (RBS). The RBS results were used to determine the thickness, roughness, and composition of the polypyrrole films. The films were deposited from aqueous solutions of sodium perchlorate, sodium xylene‐sulfonate, and poly(sodium 4‐styrene‐sulfonate) (NaPSS). The highest deposition efficiency (93%) was obtained with the sodium xylene‐sulfonate electrolyte. The ...

Ionic diffusion in polypyrrole films has been studied with ex situ Rutherford backscattering spectrometry. Polypyrrole films were deposited from aqueous electrolytes containing one of the following salts: sodium perchlorate, sodium xylene‐sulfonate, or poly(sodium 4‐styrene‐sulfonate). The ionic content of the films was determined as a function of potential (steady‐state results) and as a function of the charge passed during a potentiostatic oxidation or reduction. Results were also obtained for ...

BackgroundDuctal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) is an in-situ (pre-cancerous) breast malignancy whereby malignant cells are contained within the basement membrane of the breast ducts. Increasing awareness that some low-risk forms of DCIS might remain indolent for many years has led to concern about overtreatment, with at least 3 clinical trials underway internationally assessing the safety of active monitoring for low-risk DCIS. This study aimed to understand healthcare professionals' (HCPs) views on the ...

Channeling Rutherford backscattering spectrometry (RBS) is an essential analysis technique in materials science. However, the accuracy of RBS can be significantly affected by disorders in materials induced by the analyzing ion beam even under channeling mode. We have studied RBS analysis-induced radiation damage in silicon. A 140-keV H+ ion beam was incident along 〈1 0 0〉 Si axis at room temperature to a fluence ranging from 1.6 × 1016 cm−2 to 7.0 × 1016 cm−2. The evolution of the aligned yields versus ...

The newly constructed Bois d’Arc Lake Reservoir in Fannin County, Texas, USA, inevitably flooded a large ground surface area (67.34 km2) when the reservoir began impounding water in April 2021. Inside this (now) flooded area, land-based archaeological data recovery investigations discovered and documented several archaeological sites, now registered in the state of Texas; though, only two neighboring sites, namely, 41FN178 and 41FN244, are examined here. The first phase of archaeological testing at ...
