In this work a low cost medium for the production of a biosurfactant by Bacillus subtilis LAMI005 and the kinetics of surfactin production considering the effect of initial substrate concentration were investigated. First, cashew apple juice supplementation for optimal production of biosurfactant by B. subtilis LAMI005 was studied. The medium formulated with clarified cashew apple juice and distilled water, supplemented with 1.0 g/L of (NH4)2SO4, proved to be the best among the nutrients evaluated. ...

Bioassay-guided fractionation of the EtOH extract of the aerial parts of Baccharis uncinella C. DC. This work reports the determination of mercury in fish samples purchased at a public market in Belem City, Brazil. The mercury quantification was performed using the DMA method, which allows limits of detection and quantification of 0.004 and 0.012 ng, respectively. Botryosphaeriaceae fungi are phytopathogens and human opportunists. The influence of temperature on the phytotoxicity and cytotoxicity of culture filtrates of five Botryosphaeriaceae species was investigated.
