Trait emotional intelligence (TEI) has been shown to have predictive capacity for certain dimensions of adaptation, such as life satisfaction and affectivity. The Trait Meta Mood Scale (TMMS), based on the EI ability model, has been shown to have predictive capacity for subjective well‐being through its three factors (attention, clarity, and emotional repair), but little is known about the mediating role played by these dimensions, both among themselves and in relation to other variables. The aim of ...

The city of Huelva and surrounding areas are affected by several sources of pollution such as acid mine drainage, industrial complexes, urban wastes and agriculture activities that could pose an important environmental risk. For this reason, the modified BCR (three steps) sequential extraction method was applied to evaluate the mobility and bioavailability of the trace elements in 25 representative samples of the study area. The operational scheme of the BCR was classified into three steps: water/ ...

At present, environmental geochemical cartography using GIS-GeoDAS combined software has become an important tool in the study of polluted soils. Huelva Township, where several sources of pollution (related to acid mine drainage, industrial complexes, urban wastes…) take place is a singular environment to determine the geogenic natural content (background) and the anthropogenic contribution (baseline) applying the GIS-GeoDAS analysis. For this purpose, 150 surficial soil samples and 6 soil profiles ...

Summary Suitability of sardine (lean and fatty), dolphinfish and blue whiting for cold‐smoking was evaluated. Stable water‐holding capacity was observed in dolphinfish and blue whiting, but this tended to decrease in sardine throughout the storage. The 2‐thiobarbituric acid index was not suitable for lipid oxidation measure in these smoked fishes and rancid flavours were only detected in sardine at the end of storage period. Total volatile basic nitrogen tended to increase in all three species. Lactic ...

Abstract To test the hypothesis that extra virgin olive oils from different cultivars added to Western diets might behave differently than palm oil in the development of atherosclerosis, apoE-deficient mice were fed diets containing different cultivars of olive oil for 10weeks. Female mice were assigned randomly to one of the following five groups: (1–4) fed chow diets supplemented with 0.15% (w/w) cholesterol and 20% (w/w) extra virgin olive oil from the Arbequina, Picual, Cornicabra, or Empeltre cultivars, ...

Researchers from sociological disciplines could greatly benefit from collective information from the many people who use mobile devices to communicate via various social apps and services. However, processing that information is difficult because it's scattered among numerous social platforms. Furthermore, users are becoming increasingly concerned about how and by whom their information is being accessed. A new mobile-centric computing model allows sociological profiles of people to be generated, ...

The benefits of counting with a high number of providers for developing cloud applications are overshadowed by the vendor lock-in issue, which makes it difficult for service-based applications to be migrated and replicated in new platforms. The MULTICLAPP framework tackles this issue by providing a three stage development process for building multicloud applications where developers do not require specific expertise on cloud technologies. The application modeling stage is described in this paper, ...

Whilst cloud computing has burst into the current scene as a technology that allows companies to access high computing rates at limited costs, cloud vendors have rushed to provide tools that allow developers to build software for their cloud platforms. The software developed with these tools is often tightly coupled to their services and restrictions. Consequently vendor lock in becomes a common problem which multiple cloud users have to tackle in order to exploit the full potential of cloud computing. ...

This article approaches the concept of environmental performance in hotels as a premise to laying down a foundation for its planning and control as a strategic objective of the company. In this way, a differentiation is made between the concepts of environmental management and performance. We concentrate on the latter. Likewise, the various options that can be used to measure environmental performance are analysed, along with the dimensions that should be considered in its evaluation. Subsequently, ...

Summary Varnimcabtagene autoleucel (var‐cel) is an academic anti‐CD19 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) product used for the treatment of non‐Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) in the CART19‐BE‐01 trial. Here we report updated outcomes of patients with NHL treated with var‐cel. B‐cell recovery was compared with patients with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). Forty‐five patients with NHL were treated. Cytokine release syndrome (any grade) occurred in 84% of patients (4% grade ≥3) and neurotoxicity in 7% (2% grade ≥3). ...

Aquaculture is an increasingly relevant sector in the exploitation of natural resources; therefore, it is appropriate to propose various models that include the fundamental variables for its economic-financial valuation from a business point of view. The objective of this paper is to analyze different models for the valuation of investment projects in a company in the aquaculture sector in order to conclude whether there is a model that represents a better valuation. Therefore, in this study, four ...

Using DNA microarrays, we analyzed hepatic gene expression in apolipoprotein E (apoE)-deficient mice with a C57BL/6J genetic background that were fed with isocaloric, isonitrogenous diets containing either 10% (w/w) OO or 10% MA-enriched OO. As an initial screening of potential candidate genes involved in a differential ...

Most films used to preserve foodstuffs are made from synthetic plastic materials. However, for environmental reasons, attention has recently turned to biodegradable films. Gelatin has been extensively studied for its film-forming capacity and applicability as an outer covering to protect food against drying, light, and oxygen. Moreover, it is one of the first materials proposed as a carrier of bioactive components. Gelatins from alternatives to mammalian species are gaining prominence, especially ...

Pig sphingomyelin synthase 1 (SMS1) cDNA was cloned, characterized and compared to the human ortholog. Porcine protein consists of 413 amino acids and displays a 97% sequence identity with human protein. A phylogenic tree of proteins reveals that porcine SMS1 is more closely related to bovine and rodent proteins than to human. Analysis of protein mass was higher than the theoretical prediction based on amino acid sequence suggesting a kind of posttranslational modification. Quantitative representation ...

The diffusion length is a key parameter that controls the electron collection efficiency in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). In this work, we carry out a direct estimation of this parameter by means of the laser beam-induced current (LBIC) technique. The DSC devices are prepared on transparent conducting glass substrates, which were divided in two electrically isolated parts by means of a groove. The LBIC measurement is conducted by moving a highly focused laser spot over the DSC across the groove ...

Epidemiological studies, which have reported contradictory results, are limited by the use of serum Zn levels as a marker of intake.
