Let G(V,E) be a simple connected graph. A set S⊆V is a power dominating set (PDS) of G, if every vertex and every edge in the system is observed following the observation rules of power system monitoring. The minimum cardinality of a PDS of a graph G is the power domination number γp(G). In this paper, we establish a fundamental result that would provide a lower bound for the power domination number of a graph. Further, we solve the power domination problem in polyphenylene dendrimers, Rhenium Trioxide ( ...

Florent Foucaud, Shih-Shun Kao, Ralf Klasing, Mirka Miller, Joe Ryan,

We introduce a new graph-theoretic concept in the area of network monitoring. A set M of vertices of a graph G is a distance-edge-monitoring set if for every edge e of G, there are a vertex x of M and a vertex y of G such that e belongs to all shortest paths between x and y. We denote by dem(G) the smallest size of such a set in G. The vertices of M represent distance probes in a network modeled by G; when the edge e fails, the distance from x to y increases, and thus we are able to detect the failure. ...

Andrei Kelarev, Joe Ryan, John Yearwood,

The endomorphism monoids of graphs have been actively investigated. They are convenient tools expressing asymmetries of the graphs. One of the most important classes of graphs considered in this framework is that of Cayley graphs. Our paper proposes a new method of using Cayley graphs for classification of data. We give a survey of recent results devoted to the Cayley graphs also involving their endomorphism monoids.

A graph G of order p and size q is called (a,d)-edge-antimagic total if there exists a bijection f:V(G)∪E(G)→{1,2,…,p+q} such that the edge-weights, w(uv)=f(u)+f(v)+f(uv),uv∈E(G), form an arithmetic sequence with the first term a and common difference d. Such a graph G is called super if the smallest possible labels appear on the vertices. In this paper we study super (a,d)-edge-antimagic total properties of disconnected graphs mCn and mPn.

A new form of “museum” has emerged which takes advantage of the Internet′s seemingly limitless format options for electronic presentation and ability to tailor in‐depth presentations to niche audiences. Constraints of ownership and geographic location are lessened as Internet‐based museums point to sources across the globe. Collections which are physically impossible to construct are being mounted electronically. Offers a sampler of museums and galleries around the world which are making use of WorldWide ...

Ljiljana Branković, Mirka Miller, Ján Plesnı́k, Joe Ryan, Jozef Širáň,

Voltage graphs are a powerful tool for constructing large graphs (called lifts) with prescribed properties as covering spaces of small base graphs. This makes them suitable for application to the degree/diameter problem, which is to determine the largest order of a graph with given degree and diameter. Many currently known largest graphs of degree $\le 15$ and diameter $\le 10$ have been found by computer search among Cayley graphs of semidirect products of cyclic groups. We show that all of them can ...

Mirka Miller, Hebert Pérez‐Rosés, Joe Ryan,

The problem of finding the largest connected subgraph of a given undirected host graph, subject to constraints on the maximum degree Δ and the diameter D, was introduced in Dekker et al. (2012) [1], as a generalization of the Degree–Diameter Problem. A case of special interest is when the host graph is a common parallel architecture. Here we discuss the case when the host graph is a k-dimensional mesh. We provide some general bounds for the order of the largest subgraph in arbitrary dimension k, and ...
