This paper focuses on the recent cycle of collective action across countries and continents over the past few years. It seems to be evident that in the outset of 2011 began a new wave of global protests made of contagion and communication that spread in different contexts. Our argument is that, unlike other cycles marked by post-materialistic values, changes in labour and material issues have gained a new centrality. The labour and social basis of these mobilizations is particularly evident, though ...

Hydrological modeling is an important tool for water resources management, providing a feasible solution to represent the main hydrological processes and predict future streamflow regimes. The literature presents a set of hydrological models commonly used to represent the rainfall-runoff process in watersheds with different meteorological and geomorphological characteristics. The response of such models could differ significantly for a single precipitation event, given the uncertainties associated ...

Samples were collected in Lagoa de Dentro, Puxinanã city in Paraiba, a northeast state in Brazil and were identified as Haplomastodon waringi (Holland) (two teeth) and one tooth sample of Xenorhinotherium bahiense (Cartele and Lessa). The catalytic activity of Ni/La2O3-Al2O3 catalysts modified with noble metals (Pt and Pd) was investigated in the steam reforming of ethanol. The catalysts were characterized by ICP, SBET, X-ray diffraction, temperature-programmed reduction, UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and X-ray absorption fine structure (XANES). The results showed that the formation of inactive nickel aluminate was prevented by the presence of La2O3 dispersed on the alumina. The promoting effect of noble metals included ...

The effects of adding small amounts of palladium to Ni/γ-Al2O3 catalysts for the autothermal reforming of methane, in terms of activity, reducibility, capacity of repeated ignition and temperature profile of the reactor are described. The effect of different Pd sources was also studied. The Pd addition favors nickel reduction at lower temperatures. When the palladium is added as PdCl2 (PdNiAl-Cl) it exhibits a higher reduction temperature than when Pd(NO3)2 (PdNiAl-N) is used, an this can be attributed ...

The addition of the noble metals Pt, Pd and Ir to the Ni/γ-Al2O3 catalyst used in the autothermal reforming of methane was investigated, with the aim of making the reaction ignite without previous reduction of the catalyst with H2. In TPR-CH4, the catalysts promoted with Pt and Ir chloride suffered reduction at temperatures lower than 500 °C, while the unpromoted catalyst and those promoted by addition of PdCl2 did not suffer reduction. Pd promoted the reduction only when added as the nitrate. The ...

While the unpromoted catalyst took the partial oxidation of methane to equilibrium, the promoted ones increased the methane conversion in ATR. No electronic modifications of nickel sites were observed with the addition of noble metals, but they did cause an increase in metal surface area. The effect of noble metals on this reaction, ...

The catalysts were prepared by successive impregnation of Ni and Ca on alumina, varying the impregnation order. It was found that calcium decreases the sintering resistance of the support and blocks the small pores, especially when it is added above the nickel. It has also been reported that calcium ...

One of the biggest challenges in treating leprosy is the control of reaction events. Patients with lepromatous leprosy may present reaction type II, or erythema nodosum leprosum, during treatment, and this reaction can remain in a recurrent form after being released from the hospital, requiring the use of thalidomide and/or prednisone for long periods of time, in turn increasing the risk of side effects. Two reports of the use of antiTNF to treat erythema nodosum leprosum were found in the literature. ...
