Glucosamine is widely used to relieve symptoms from osteoarthritis. Its safety and effects on glucose metabolism are critically evaluated in this review. The LD50 of oral glucosamine in animals is ∼8000 mg/kg with no adverse effects at 2700 mg/kg for 12 months. The processing of one-dimensional nanomaterials, such as carbon-nanotubes, is generally hampered by the fact that they are insoluble. By conducting sedimentation experiments on Mo6S4.5I4.5 nanowires in isopropanol we show that a significant portion (≈12wt%) of the as-produced material is soluble as small diameter nanowire bundles. Using this technique, as a purification procedure, high purity Mo6S4.5I4.5 nanowire dispersions can be produced with concentrations as high as 0.34 mg/ml.

A critique of Bem's “Exotic Becomes Erotic” theory (1996) on the development of male homosexuality was offered. Limitations were outlined in light of relevant research findings. The authors proposed an alternative model to explain male homosexuality, i.e., reparation of early boyhood trauma, which better accounts for significant psychodynamic elements and available research. Finally, comparisons were made between specific elements of the two models.
