Gymnastics is a judgement-based sport whereby the decision-making processes of judges are expected to lead to valid and reliable outcome scores. The concurrent Think Aloud method has been used to study decision-making amongst coaches and athletes in previous sport-related studies but never in judging-based studies. Hence, this project has two aims: 1) to explore decision-making underpinning the judging process in Women's Artistic Gymnastic (WAG) by using a concurrent verbal report, Think Aloud (TA) ...

Intravenous (IV) iron formulations provide a clinical treatment option for patients when iron supplementation is required but oral administration is unsuitable because of intolerance or lack of efficacy. IV iron use is increasing worldwide, especially in the chronic kidney disease (CKD) population [1]. Pharmacokinetic (PK) analysis of IV iron formulations is challenging unless the compound can be directly measured or it is manufactured with a radiolabelled form of iron (e.g. Fe) to distinguish the IV ...

In the real world, people are quite accurate in judging distances to locations in the environment, at least for targets resting on the ground plane and distances out to about 20 m. Distance judgments in visually immersive environments are much less accurate. Several studies have now shown that in visually immersive environments, the world appears significantly smaller than intended. This study investigates whether or not the compression in apparent distances is the result of the low-quality computer ...

Courts, John Marshall famously declared, must what the law Increasingly, it seems, they are also called upon to say what the news is. When subjects of unwanted publicity sue for invasion of privacy or other torts, journalists commonly defend on the ground that the challenged disclosures were privileged as newsworthy. Traditionally, courts minimized constitutional concerns by deferring heavily to journalists' own sense of what qualified as news; that a story made the newspapers or the evening news ...

In 2019, the French government passed an unprecedented law that banned the public from analyzing information in reported court decisions to draw insights about the judicial behaviour of individual judges. The penalty for breaking this law is steep: violators face up to five years in prison. In our view, a French-style ban is not normatively defensible in Canada given our protection of freedom of expression and our strong open courts principle. The public should be able to analyze information that ...

Recent multifoci research reports that multiple sources of justice exist in organizations. In expanding this framework, we address how judgments of overall procedural fairness and behavioral intentions are influenced by different experiences of voice-based participation across a multi-stage decision-making process. The results of two experiments were consistent with a fairness theory framework. Overall, decision procedures were judged to be the fairest and the intention to volunteer was highest ...

In 2006, Basil Marceaux of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, filed a lawsuit asserting a “right to dictate what news was published or broadcast by local and national newspapers and television stations.” Marceaux had received some decidedly light-hearted press coverage in his successive campaigns for governor and senator, and was apparently aggrieved that media outlets had declined to publish information he considered “newsworthy.” The Tennessee
