The tooth fragment bonding technique, frequently used to restore traumatized teeth, may be affected by dehydration/rehydration periods. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of different dry and wet storage intervals on multimode adhesive bonding between reattached fragments and teeth.Eighty-four bovine incisors were fractured and randomized into groups (n=12). After teeth fracturing, each specimen was assigned to one of the following groups: G0: control group (sound tooth); GA1 and GA2: ...

Several strategies have been developed for tooth fragment reattachment following fracture. Although many techniques have been reported, there is no consensus on which one has the best results in terms of the bond strength between the fragment and the dentin over time. The aim of this study was to assess the currently reported tooth fragment reattachment techniques for fractured crowns of anterior teeth. The PubMed, LILACS, Web of Science, Cochrane, and Scopus databases were searched in October 2016, ...

Bacteria detection, counting and analysis is of great importance in several fields. When viability plays a major role in decision making, the counting of colony-forming units grown on agar plates remains the gold standard. However, because plate counts depend on the growth of the bacteria, it is a slow procedure and only works with culturable species. Impedance flow cytometry (IFC) is a promising technology for particle detection, counting and characterization. It relies on the perturbation of an ...

This study examined the immediate bond strength of etch-and-rinse adhesives to demineralized dentin saturated with either water or absolute ethanol. The research hypothesis was that there would be no difference in bond strength to dentin between water or ethanol wet-bonding techniques. The medium dentin of 20 third molars was exposed (n = 5). The dentin surface was then acid-etched, left moist and randomly assigned to be saturated via either water wet-bonding (WBT) or absolute ethanol wet-bonding (EBT). ...

The human proteins FEZ1 (fasciculation and elongation protein zeta 1) and FEZ2 are orthologs of the protein UNC-76 from C. elegans, involved in the growth and fasciculation of the worms axon. Pull down assays showed that the protein FEZ1 interacts with other proteins (e.g., the protein SCOCO, short coiled-coil protein), mitochondria, and vesicles. These components may therefore represent cargoes to be transported along the microtubule, and the transport may be mediated through FEZ1 reported binding ...
