Abstract A new flame retardation system for epoxy molding compounds was investigated for application to semiconductor packaging. By adding a small volume of calcium borate as a flame retardant, the flammability of the epoxy molding compound decreased. Thermal electron attachment in O2–M(M; C2H6, C3H8 and n-C4H10) mixtures has been investigated using a microwave conductivity technique combined with x-ray pulse radiolysis. Evidence is presented for predominant electron attachment to van der Waals molecules (O2⋅M) at higher pressures. Wear rate of diamond-like carbon (DLC) protective layer deposited by a radio frequency plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition method has been evaluated by continuous sliding tests using spherical sapphire pins. The influence of each property such as microstructure and microhardness on wear durability of the film is discussed. It has been found that the wear durability of the DLC film is several times superior to that of conventional sputtered carbon film. >

A new type of unbalanced magnetic field for planer magnetron cathode was applied to conduct PE-CVD by the assistance of dc magnetron discharge. A carbon thin carbon was formed on a negatively biased substrated by supplying Ar and CH 4 . This coating was found to have the physical properties equivalent to the DLC sample by ECR-CVD. This paper describes the sample and efficient DLC coating method based on the PE-CVD mechanism.

炭酸カルシウム25vol%充てんポリプロピレンについてウェザーメーターによる耐候性を検討し次のことを明らかにした. 1) 炭酸カルシウム充てんポリプロピレンは, アイゾット衝撃強さ, 伸び率において100時間以内で, 初期値の50%以下まで低下し, 未充てんのものに比べて著しく劣化が促進される. 2) 各種の機械的特性の変化は, 熱劣化の場合と類似しているが, 炭酸カルシウム中に含まれる微量のFe, Cu, Mn等の不純物の影響は, 熱劣化の場合より少ない. 3) 劣化防止剤として, 単独ではチオプロピオール系酸化防止剤がよいが, トリアゾール系の紫外線吸収剤と併用することにより効果は著しく向上する. 4) 劣化は紫外線照射面より内部へ進行していくことが赤外線吸収スペクトル分析, 引張破壊断面の観察より明らかになった.

ポリブロピレンに炭酸カルシウム, タルクを充てんした成形品表面の光沢について検討し, 次のことを明らかにした. (1) フィラー充てんによるPP成形品表面光沢の低下は, フィラーの表面への突き出し, 気泡などによる凸凹の発生に起因する. (2) 表面層は, 比較的樹脂分が多い状態であり, 界面活性剤などの添加剤により表面の平滑性を良くして光沢を10~40%向上させることができる. (3) フィラーの充てん率, 粒子径の増加によって, 光沢は低下する, CaCO3充てん率20wt%で平均粒子径0.07μmのものの光沢は3.8μmのものに比べ約30%以上に向上する. (4) フィラー充てんPPの光沢はマトリックスPPの光沢に大きく依存する, 光沢とともに弾性率, 衝撃値にバランス良い特性のものは, ホモ, ランダム, ブロックコポリマーの各種ポリマーの特性を生かしたポリマーブレンドにより得ることができる.
