Familiarity with the distractors around an unfamiliar target facilitates visual search. Three Experiments examined whether the effect occurs because fixations are (a) shorter and fewer, (b) shorter, but more abundant, (c) equally long, but fewer, or (d) longer, but fewer when distractors are familiar. Results indicated comparably long, but fewer fixations when distractors are familiar. Hence, the theory that unfamiliar distractors need longer processing is discounted. In a fourth Experiment, a gaze- ...

No clinical studies have been done to explore the relationship of ledging to the clinical practice of endodontics. The purpose of this study was to examine 171 cases completed by third-year dental students and to identify variables that were associated with ledging. Abstract Discriminant analysis of 47 variables from a questionnaire mailed to 3,200 randomly selected woodland owners in Arkansas yielded models for the combined Ozark-Ouachita and Coastal Plain regions of the state that were nearly 80 percent successful in differentiating between timber managers and nonmanagers. High-density polyethylene is an important polymer for a variety of industrial applications. The pressure for landfill diversion strategies have increased with consumer awareness of traditional end-of-life practices. It is critical to understand the influence of post-consumer recycled polymer (PCR) content on properties and consumer safety as converters blend PCR with virgin resin to increase sustainability. The ability to empirically quantify the PCR content is vital for compliance with minimum content ...
