The influence of ventilation mode on classroom air quality in the State of Kuwait is reported. In this field study, CO2 concentration levels were measured during natural and air-conditioned ventilation modes inside 10 elementary-level classrooms in three Kuwaiti schools occupied by children in the 6–10 years age group. The findings show that these classrooms have lower average CO2 concentration levels (708 ppm) during the natural ventilation mode compared to that in the air-conditioned mode (1596 ...

Trichophyton indotineae is an emerging dermatophyte that has remarkable impact on public health worldwide. In addition to producing severe extensive skin lesions, this species is frequently resistant to terbinafine, used as a first line agent. As a result, the infection is often refractory, making treatment very challenging. The current report describes the first case of Trichophyton indotineae infection in Kuwait. The infected woman had no recent travel history. She failed to respond to several ...

Accurate chemical kinetic combustion models of lightly branched alkanes (e.g., 2-methylalkanes) are important to investigate the combustion behavior of real fuels. Improving the fidelity of existing kinetic models is a necessity, as new experiments and advanced theories show inaccuracies in certain portions of the models. This study focuses on updating thermodynamic data and the kinetic reaction mechanism for a gasoline surrogate component, 2-methylhexane, based on recently published thermodynamic ...

Throughout most of the twentieth century, Western criminological thought was preoccupied by theories of modern criminology, which were concerned with the question of why individuals commit crime. Since the late 1970s, however, the Western world has experienced new reconfigurations in the crime control field, one of which is the transformation of Western criminological thought. New crime theories have emerged in which the focus has shifted from the ‘criminal’ to the ‘criminal activity’. Despite their ...

Artificial neural network (ANN) was utilized to predict the thermal insulation values of children’s school wear in Kuwait. The input thermal insulation data of the different children’s school wear used in Kuwait classrooms were obtained from study using thermal manikins. The lowest mean squared error (MSE) value for the validation data was 1.5 × 10 −5 using one hidden layer of six neurons and one output layer. The R 2 values for the training, validation, and testing data were almost equal to 1. The values ...

The Extradition Treaty between Kuwait and the UK, signed in 2016, presages a new stage of cooperation in criminal justice matters. The Treaty and the related arrangements are designed to facilitate the surrender of fugitives. However, a number of factors, not least the statutory bars to extradition in UK legislation and broader apprehensions about extradition, cast doubt on the effective implementation of the Treaty, particularly for extradition requests from Kuwait. There is contestation between ...

The money laundering offence (ML offence), as established by the Kuwaiti Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 106/2013 (“AML/CFT Act”), has the potential to combat financial crimes. The broad definition of ‘proceeds of crime’ and the ‘all crimes’ approach adopted in the AML/CFT Act are two features that help the ML offence to do so. In relation to Kuwait, where the problem of public corruption is a common, prevalent pattern of criminality, the ML offence becomes of paramount ...

Aim: Coronavirus infection has caused disease at the pandemic level with several deaths worldwide and affected all aspects of human life. One way to minimize virus transmission and its effects is to perform mass vaccination within the general population so that herd immunity is developed against the SARS-CoV-2 virus. However, low health literacy and vaccine hesitancy are potential threats in achieving this. The present study is designed to measure the Knowledge, Attitude, and Perception levels towards ...
