This article examines how the Greek tragedy, especially Sophocles’ Antigone recuperates and expands the myth. Indeed, the tragedy displays the myth in a way that it can compete with the mythic canon in many occasions. It is also our intention to examine how the myth operates in the dramatic dynamics, that is, to what extent it is functional to the tragic representation.
