In this paper (a substantial extension of the short version presented at REM2016 on April 19–21, Maldives [1]), multi-objective power dispatching is discussed in the scope of microgrids located in smart cities. The proposed system considers the use of Plug-in Electric Vehicle (PEV) and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) as storage units. The problem involves distinct types of vehicles and a community, composed of small houses, residential areas and different Renewable Energy Resources. In order to highlight ...

Its pathogenicity is complex and multifactorial and is associated with many virulence factors. In this study, 110 selected Aeromonas hydrophila isolates isolated from food, animals, and human clinical material from 2010 to 2015 were analyzed. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing was performed by the disk diffusion method, and polymerase chain reaction was conducted to investigate ...

Trypanothione reductase (TR) is a major enzyme in trypanosomatids. Its substrate, trypanothione is a molecule containing a tripeptide (L-glutamic acid-cysteine-glycine) coupled to a polyamine, spermidine. This redox system (TR/Trypanothione) is vital for parasite survival within the host cell and has been described as a good target for chemotherapy anti-Leishmania. The use of tripeptides analogs of glutathione would result in a decrease in trypanothione synthesis and as a consequence in TR activity. ...

The template method for preparing nanomaterials entails synthesis of tubular or fibrillar nanostructures within the pores of a microporous membrane. If the holes are completely filled, solid nanowires result, while a partial filling with a continuous coating gives rise to nanotubes. The structure and morphology of the obtained nanomaterials are examined and compared ...

It is known that some metal salts can inhibit matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) activity, but the effect of iron has not been tested yet. On the other hand, it has recently been suggested that MMP inhibition might influence dentine erosion. Based on this, the aims of this study were: (1) to test in vitro the effect of FeSO4 on MMP-2 and -9 activity, and (2) to evaluate in situ the effect of FeSO4 gel on dentine erosion. MMP-2 and -9 activities were analysed ...

Newcastle disease is characterized by respiratory manifestations in association with nervous and/or digestive symptoms. Its prevention is done by vaccination with live attenuated (lentogenic strains) and/or killed vaccines. Among them, Mycoplasma synoviae is worldwide important, mainly in Brazil. The dissemination of this agent in poultry flocks has been achieved due to ...
