Lisa C. Smith, Marie T. Ruel, A.M. Ndiaye,

This study asks whether key socioeconomic determinants of child nutritional status differ across urban and rural areas to investigate why urban malnutrition rates are lower. Little evidence of urban–rural differences in the nature of the determinants or the strength of their associations with nutritional status is found. However, marked differences in the levels of the determinants and in caring practices for children and women in favor of urban areas are documented. The study results suggest that ...

Slowing the spread of COVID-19 requires people to actively change their lives by following protective practices, such as physical distancing and disinfecting their hands. Perceptions about the personal risk of COVID-19 may affect compliance with these practices. In this study, we assessed risk perception and optimism about COVID-19 in a multinational (UK, USA and Germany), longitudinal design during the early stages of the pandemic (16 March 2020; 1 April 2020; 20 May 2020). Previous research in patients with schizophrenia in European and USA population groups has demonstrated a high prevalence of metabolic syndrome and disease progression (~35%–40%) and increased risk for cardiovascular disease and long-term mortality. Limited research has determined the prevalence of existing cardiometabolic risk factors at onset of a first episode psychosis. This cross-sectional study presents a clinical overview of the cardiometabolic risk profile in young people with first episode ...

The negative impact of pre-treatment patient perfectionism on therapeutic alliance and outcomes has been well documented. However, there is much to learn about how patient perfectionism impacts the development of the therapeutic alliance. Our study addressed this by examining the extent to which trait and self-presentational components of perfectionism influence clinician's perceptions of patients during an initial interview. In a re-analysis of data from Hewitt et al., 2008, Psychiatry, 71, 93-122, ...

Abstract. Adults and larvae of Anopheles maculipennis Meigen were collected in Greece in May and June 2001. Larvae and the progeny of wild‐caught females were individually reared to obtain samples of all life stages for integrated morphological and molecular study. Specimens were identified on the basis of egg morphology and correlation of their ITS2 rDNA sequences with those in GenBank. The adult, pupal, larval (fourth‐instar) and egg stages are described, and all stages except the egg are illustrated. ...
