Purpose:MYCN is one of the most well-characterized genetic markers of neuroblastoma. However, the mechanisms as to how MYCN mediate neuroblastoma tumorigenesis are not fully clear. Increasing evidence has confirmed that the dysregulation of miRNAs is involved in MYCN-mediated neuroblastoma tumorigenesis, supporting their potential as therapeutic targets for neuroblastoma. Although miR-221 has been reported as one of the upregulated miRNAs, the interplay between miR-221 and MYCN-mediated neuroblastoma ...

Abstract A copper‐catalyzed formylation reaction has been developed by employing oxygen (O 2 ) as the clean oxidant. The CH bonds of indoles were C‐3‐formylated by tetramethylethylenediamine (TMEDA) and water (H 2 O; in situ formed and external added water) as the carbonyl source in moderate to good yields with good functional group tolerance. Thus, it represents a facile procedure leading to 3‐formylindoles.

Abstract A glucose sensor composed of silver nanoparticles decorated carbon nanotubes (Ag‐NPs/CNTs) prepared by ion implantation is described. Ag‐NPs with size of 2–4 nm are uniformly distributed in the CNTs after ion implantation. This process provides a strong combination between Ag‐NPs and CNTs and can effectively prevent the Ag‐NPs from aggregation. A linear range of 125 µM to 10 mM towards glucose determination was obtained. The Ag‐NPs/CNTs electrode shows minimal interferences from co‐existence ...

A randomized controlled experimental pilot study was conducted in order to investigate the effect of life skills training on behavior problems in left-behind children (LBC) in rural China. Sixty-eight LBC were recruited from a middle school in rural China. The intervention group took a ten-week-long life skills training course. The Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) and Teacher’s Report Form (TRF) were used to evaluate the behavioral problems of the children at three separate intervals: Prior to the intervention, ...

Methods Renal transplant recipients at least 3 months post transplantation were recruited from a follow-up outpatient clinic. Both self-reported Morisky Medication Adherence Scale and serum concentration of IM (cyclosporine trough ...

An improved fruit fly optimization algorithm (FOA) is proposed for optimizing continuous function problems and handling joint replenishment problems (JRPs). In the proposed FOA, a level probability policy and a new mutation parameter are developed to balance the population diversity and stability. Twenty-nine complex continuous benchmark functions are used to verify the performance of the FOA with level probability policy (LP–FOA). Numerical results show that the proposed LP–FOA outperforms two state- ...

With the rapid development of smartphones and wireless networks, indoor location-based services have become more and more prevalent. Due to the sophisticated propagation of radio signals, the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) shows a significant variation during pedestrian walking, which introduces critical errors in deterministic indoor positioning. To solve this problem, we present a novel method to improve the indoor pedestrian positioning accuracy by embedding a fuzzy pattern recognition ...

Na-based batteries are proposed as promising energy storage candidates for beyond Li-ion technology due to the higher natural earth of Na metal. For its high capacity and low potential, Na metal may carve itself a niche when directly used as anodes. Similar to or even more problematic than Li, however, uneven plating/stripping of Na leads to dendrite formation. As the plating substrates, current collectors have a paramount influence on the Na plating/stripping behaviors. Here we propose porous Al ...

In recent years, joint replenishment and delivery problem (JRD) has been examined extensively in the context of replenishment and inventory control. However, as an extension of joint replenishment problem, the JRD is more complex and difficult to optimize with an exact algorithm. In this study, lower and upper bounds of JRD are obtained approximately but quickly using a novel bounding procedure. Then, a variable neighborhood search (VNS) with the bounding method is developed to solve the JRD. Computational ...

Heat stress is a major environmental stress that limits plant growth and yield worldwide. The present study was carried out to explore the physiological mechanism of heat tolerant to provide the theoretical basis for heat-tolerant breeding. The changes of leaf morphology, anatomy, nitrogen assimilation, and carbohydrate metabolism in two wucai genotypes (WS-1, heat tolerant; WS-6, heat sensitive) grown under heat stress (40°C/30°C) for 7 days were investigated. Our results showed that heat stress ...

Annual fishes of the genus Nothobranchius show expression of age-related biomarkers at behavioral and histological levels. They therefore represent an excellent animal model for aging studies. However, oocyte development, histological and biochemical degeneration and immune response of ovary in the annual fishes remain unclear. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate a new and practical decision support model of the coordinated replenishment and delivery (CRD) problem with multi-warehouse (M-CRD) to improve the performance of a supply chain. Two algorithms, tabu search-RAND (TS-RAND) and adaptive hybrid different evolution (AHDE) algorithm, are developed and compared as to the performance of each in solving the M-CRD problem. Design/methodology/approach The proposed M-CRD is more complex and practical than classical ...

Mesoporous carbon materials have recently attracted immense research interest because of their potential application in water purification fields. Herein, we report the synthesis of a mesoporous carbon sponge (MCS) from a supramolecular microcrystalline cellulose-polymer system triggered by microwave-assisted treatment. Benefiting from the three-dimensional (3D) interconnected mesopores and an evenly distributed ball-like protuberance on the inner surfaces of the macropores, the MCS exhibited a high ...

All patients achieved successful donor engraftment. The median time was 12 days (range, 7 to 26) for myeloid engraftment and 13 days (range, 11 to 75) for platelets. The sperm-associated antigen 5 (SPAG5) plays a key role in controlling cellular processes, including cell cycle progression and proliferation. However, the role of SPAG5 in gastric cancer (GC) remains unclear. Herein, our study showed that upregulation of SPAG5 was detected frequently in GC tissues, and was associated with significantly worse survival in patients with GC. Multivariate analyses revealed that high SPAG5 expression was an independent predictive marker for the poor prognosis of GC patients. ...

Nowadays consumers are increasingly demanding food with fewer synthetic preservatives, which makes antimicrobial essential oils (EOs) from plants promising alternatives. In this work, surfactant-free emulsions were successfully fabricated from Cinnamon cassia oil (C. cassia oil) with partially deacetylated chitin nanofiber (ChNF) adopted as a Pickering stabilizer. The storage stability and microstructures of the emulsions with different concentrations of ChNF were studied in detail. As ChNF concentration ...
