A 2.91-billion base pair (bp) consensus sequence of the euchromatic portion of the human genome was generated by the whole-genome shotgun sequencing method. The 14.8-billion bp DNA sequence was generated over 9 months from 27,271,853 high-quality sequence reads (5.11-fold coverage of the genome) from both ends of plasmid clones made from the DNA of five individuals. Two assembly strategies—a whole-genome assembly and a regional chromosome assembly—were used, each combining sequence data from Celera ...

MRI brain strongly suggested an aggressive primary brain tumour in the right frontal lobe but histopathology revealed a pleomorphic lymphoid infiltrate, necrosis and vague granulomata and vasculitis was diagnosed. On review the following were noted: areas of necrosis and focal diffuse lymphoid infiltrate ...

Extranodal marginal zone lymphomas (EMZL) are usually indolent B cell lymphomas arising in acquired mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) as a result of chronic antigen stimulation from infection or autoimmune processes. EMZLs occurring at different MALT sites have shared and unique genetic events including site-associated chromosomal structural changes and mutations. While large scale genetic analyses of EMZL are lacking, previous small studies have shown that EMZL often show activation of NF- ...

Our essay is a thematic exploration of the malleability of idioms, imageries, and affectivities of Hindu bhakti across the borderlines of certain Indic worldviews. We highlight the theological motif of the feminine-feminised quest of the seeker (virahiṇī) for her divine beloved in some Hindu expressions shaped by the paradigmatic scriptural text Bhāgavata-purāṇa and in some Punjabi Sufi articulations of the transcendent God’s innermost presence to the pilgrim self. The leitmotif that the divine reality ...

Follicular Lymphoma (FL) is the most common indolent lymphoma derived from light zone germinal center B cells and characterized by a t(14;18) translocation resulting in upregulation of BCL2 in over 80% of cases. This translocation alone is not sufficient for tumorogenesis, and must be combined with additional genetic mutations to transform B cells. FL is incurable and the disease course can be highly varied, with survival ranging from a few months to decades following diagnosis and treatment with ...

Background: Despite improved approaches to prognostication in mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), the impact of specific genomic aberrations is not well-described beyond TP53, which is well recognized as a high-risk marker across malignancies and widely assessed at time of diagnosis. However, since outcomes in patients without TP53 aberrations can be highly variable and difficult to predict, additional molecular markers are needed to identify patients who are at high risk for early relapse and inferior OS ( ...
