Quantification of 2H and 13C enrichment distributions in human urinary glucuronide following ingestion of 2H2O and 13C gluconeogenic tracers was achieved by NMR spectroscopy of the 1,2‐O‐isopropylidene‐α‐D‐glucofuranurono‐6,3‐lactone and 5‐O‐acetyl‐1,2‐O‐isopropylidene‐α‐D‐glucofuranurono‐6,3‐lactone derivatives. The derivatization process is simple and can be applied to any glucuronide species. The derivatives are highly soluble in acetonitrile and generate well‐resolved and narrow 2H and 13C NMR ...

In the present study, the presence of tick-associated bacteria and protozoa in Ornithodoros rostratus ticks (adults, nymphs, and eggs) from the Pantanal region of Brazil were determined by molecular detection. In these ticks, DNA from protozoa in the genera Babesia and Hepatozoon, and bacteria from the genera Rickettsia, Borrelia, Anaplasma, and Ehrlichia were not detected. Conversely, all tested ticks (100%) yielded PCR products for 3 Coxiella genes (16S rRNA, pyrG, cap). PCR and phylogenetic analysis ...

Nowadays, debates addressing climate change, fossil fuels depletion and energy security highlight the need for a more sustainable built environment in order to reduce energy consumption and emission trends in the buildings sector. Meeting these targets is a challenge that calls for innovative research to improve the use of renewable energy sources, new technologies, and holistic tools and methodologies. Such research should integrate the dynamics and main drivers of energy supply and demand in buildings ...

Mutations in the GNRHR gene cause autosomal recessive nCHH. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of GNRHR mutations in a group of 40 patients with nCHH.Cross-sectional study of 40 ...

The understanding and anticipating of climate change impacts is one of the greatest challenges for humanity. It is already known that, until the end of the 21st century, the mean sea level (MSL) will rise at a global scale, but its effects at the local scale need to be further analyzed. In this context, a numerical modelling tool and a methodological approach for the river Minho estuary (NW of the Iberian Peninsula) are presented, to predict possible consequences of local MSL rise, considering the ...

Cost reduction without loss of quality is a key factor during the development of engineering materials. This is particularly true for oxide fibers, which can represent up to 70 % of the real cost of all-oxide ceramic matrix composites (OCMC). Therefore, the objective of this work is to produce and evaluate OCMCs based on novel low-cost Nextel™ 610 fiber fabrics with deniers of 3000−20,000. Experiments were divided into fiber and composite characterizations. In general, fiber bundles with higher denier ...
