The Covid-19 pandemic has emphasized the role of educational management information systems (EMIS) for quality management (QM) in higher education, and set new directions for post-pandemic studies. Successful implementation of QM processes depends largely on managers' perceptions about quality and educational technology. However, higher education managers’ profiles regarding these quality perceptions and their EMIS acceptance have been insufficiently investigated so far. In response to this research ...

There is increasing evidence of the relationship between sleep and neurodegeneration, but this knowledge is not incorporated into clinical practice yet. We aimed to test whether a basic sleep parameter, as total sleep estimated by actigraphy for 1 week, was a valid predictor of CSF Alzheimer’s Disease core biomarkers (amyloid-β-42 and –40, phosphorylated-tau-181, and total-tau) in elderly individuals, considering possible confounders and effect modifiers, particularly the APOE ε 4 allele. Abstract Data on convalescent plasma (CP) treatment in COVID-19 outpatients are scarce. We aimed to assess whether CP administered during the first week of symptoms reduced the disease progression or risk of hospitalization of outpatients. Two multicenter, double-blind randomized trials (NCT04621123, NCT04589949) were merged with data pooling starting when <20% of recruitment target was achieved. A Bayesian-adaptive individual patient data meta-analysis was implemented. Outpatients aged ≥50 years and ...

Convalescent plasma has been proposed as an early treatment to interrupt the progression of early COVID-19 to severe disease, but there is little definitive evidence. We aimed to assess whether early treatment with convalescent plasma reduces the risk of hospitalisation and reduces SARS-CoV-2 viral load among outpatients with COVID-19.We did a multicentre, double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled trial in four health-care centres in Catalonia, Spain. Adult outpatients aged 50 years or older ...

Water deficit is the most limiting factor for wheat production, so wheat-breeding programmes are currently focused on developing high-performance genotypes under such conditions. Carbon isotope discrimination (∆13C) in grains is a trait closely related to yield and stress tolerance. However, conventional measurement of ∆13C is expensive, limiting its widespread use for genotype selection in breeding programmes. Predicting ∆13C through remote sensing could be useful for large-scale phenotyping. A set ...
