Although pulsed Nd:YAG laser welding has been widely used in microelectronics and photonics packaging industry, a full understanding of various phenomena involved is still a matter of trials and speculations. In this research, an ultra compact pulsed Nd:YAG laser with wavelength of 1.064 μm has been used to produce a spot weld on stainless steel 304. The principal objective of this research is to examine the effects of laser welding parameters such as laser beam peak powers, pulse durations, incident ...

Abstract In this work, plasma is produced by irradiating a Ti target with 10 ns pulsed Nd:YAG (λ = 1064 nm) laser. The laser fluence at the target was varied in the range of 2–20.3 J/cm 2 . The ion signal from freely expanding Ti plasma in vacuum was characterized with the help of ion collector and time-of-flight electrostatic energy analyzer. The ion charge state was found to increase with the laser fluence and maximum available ion charge in this fluence range is Ti 4+ . A correlation between the intensities ...

In the present study, cupric oxide (CuO) nanoparticles were synthesized by electrochemical discharge process using strong base electrolytes. The experiments were carried out separately using NaOH and KOH electrolytes. The mass output rate and the crystal size were obtained with variation of the rotation speed of magnetic stirrer for both types of electrolytes. The mass output rate of CuO nanoparticles increased with the increase in the speed of rotation, and, after an optimum speed, it started decreasing. ...

This article investigates the factors that influence foreign portfolio investment (FPI) inflows to various sectors in India from February 2012 to July 2020. We find evidence that in the short-run FPI inflows in India have a significant positive relationship with the index of industrial production (IIP), foreign direct investment (FDI) and market capitalization (MC) while a significant negative relationship with the US dollars exchange rate (DEXR) and real effective exchange rate (REER). A time-resolving Langmuir probe was used to investigate the expansion of tungsten plasma produced by the pulsed Nd-YAG laser (wavelength = 1064 nm, pulse duration = 10 ns). Current–voltage (IV) plots at various times after the laser shot hit the target were obtained from probe electron and ion currents. Langmuir probe theory was used to determine the temporal variation of the plasma potential, electron temperature and electron density. These plasma parameters sharply rise to a maximum value and then slowly ...

Abstract Turbine blades are generally protected by thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) against high temperature oxidation and corrosion. A novel method has been developed to prepare nanostructured Al2O3 powders for thermal-spraying (atmospheric plasma spray) with high flowability. In this method, nano Al2O3 powders are granulated and then heat treated at 200°C which become suitable to be used in thermal spraying equipment. The normal Al2O3 and granulated nano Al2O3 powders were sprayed separately by using ...
