We show that high-resolution NMR can reach picomole sensitivity for micromolar concentrations of analyte by combining parahydrogen-induced hyperpolarization (PHIP) with a high-sensitivity transmission line microdetector. The para-enriched hydrogen gas is introduced into solution by diffusion through a membrane integrated into a microfluidic chip. A simple pulsing unit which gates on an inexpensive side window photomultiplier for 10–300 nsec with a rise time of 9 nsec is described. Following a strong pulse of light, a signal change of 1 part in 104 relative to the main pulse can be detected. Under low light conditions, the noise level is such that single photoelectrons can be detected. The performance of the system is shown in a measurement of light induced echoes in the photomultiplier which are 1000-fold weaker than the main signal.

We present a signal enhancement strategy for benchtop NMR that produces SNR increases on the order of 10 to 30 fold by collapsing the target resonance into an extremely narrow singlet. Importantly, the resultant signal is amenable to quantitative interpretation and therefore can be applied to analytical applications such as reaction monitoring.

In this study, were used residual Açaí seeds as a biosorbent for two textile dyes (Acid Yellow 219 (AY) and Acid Red 361 (AR)), in single and binary solutions.Further, kinetic and isothermal studies were carried to evaluate if the chemical modifications in the Açaí seeds would promote an increase in biosorption.Kinetic assays for all solutions showed that more than 50 % of the dyes were removed in the first 15 minutes.The acid treatment of the biosorbent increased the removal of acid dyes in solution ...
