Size-fractioned phytoplankton (pico, nano and microplankton) biomass and production were estimated throughout a year at Recife harbor (NE Brazil), a shallow well mixed tropical hypereutrophic estuary with short residence times but restricted water renewal. The Amazon generates the world's largest offshore river plume, which covers extensive areas of the tropical Atlantic. Os missionários denominavam de índios infiéis todos aqueles que não aceitaram viver nas reduções jesuíticas ou franciscanas. Os territórios destes índios foram pouco a pouco ocupados pelas estâncias missioneiras, com estâncias e povoados portugueses e de espanhóis, não tendo mais espaço disponível à sua sobrevivência, atacam as estâncias e por fim se unem aos índios missioneiros, até servem como soldado ao conquistador, desaparecendo nos massacres e pela mestiçagem.
