Date palm (Phoenix dactyliferaL.) is extensively cultivated in the Middle East and in North Africa. Seven ISSR markers and five SSR loci were selected and used to evaluate genetic diversity in twenty-six Tunisian cultivars. ISSR primers amplified a total of 43 polymorphic DNA fragments. The average was 6.1 fragments per primer. The microsatellites examined in this study were highly polymorphic possessing a great number of alleles with an average of 7.2 alleles per locus. Principal component analyses ...

Phoenix dactylifera L. is widely distributed and performs an important socioeconomic role in the south of Tunisia. The objective of this work was to evaluate different methods of estimating the diversity and genetic structure of Tunisiandate palm subpopulations. Nine morphological traits and five SSR loci were used to study morphological and genetic diversity. Correlations between phenotypic and genetic distances were assessed. Analyses of variance of the morphological data reveal significant differences ...

Damming rivers causes two main problems affecting a river's geomorphic ecosystem and its water quality. The Tallowa Dam on the Shoalhaven River in southeastern NSW, Australia, provides a case study to find the best sustainable solutions to avoid these problems. The project uses a civil-infrastructure idea to design a grid of collector pipes from the reservoir bottom surface. Spatial data analysis using ArcGIS 10.2 is used to determine the best grid location for the pipes in the reservoir. Water ...

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are synthesized by the flame fragment deposition (FFD) technique using Iraqi liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as a source of carbon in a hand-made reactor at a low temperature (160 °C) without using a catalyst. Purification of the multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) is carried out using a two-step process consisting of sonication in 30 wt.% hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) solution at room temperature to remove amorphous impurities adhering to the walls of the CNTs and carbon nanoparticles ( ...

Future vehicular wireless applications, such as autonomous and remote driving, will demand High Throughput Ultra-Reliable Low Latency Communication (HT-URLLC) unsupported by current wireless standards. Hybrid network designs that combine Millimeter-Wave (mmWave) and Sub-6 GHz communications were recently proposed to establish HT-URLLC in Vehicle-To-Everything (V2X) networks. To enable such integration, new Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols must be developed. As such, we consider a linear vehicular ...
