We propose an optimization-driven approach for automated, physics-based pattern design for tight-fitting clothing. Designing such clothing poses particular challenges since large nonlinear deformations, tight contact between cloth and body, and body deformations have to be accounted for. Studies were performed to improve the knowledge about Ga behavior during oxidation of Pu alloys stabilized in δ–phase. The coupling of EXAFS experiments with Reverse Monte Carlo (RMC) simulation of 3D material structure has achieved the characterization of the atomic local environment around Pu and Ga atoms in the outer PuO2 layer formed on a δ−PuGa 1 at% alloy. In this paper, we make a theoretical analysis of the convergence rates of Kaczmarz and extended Kaczmarz projection algorithms for some of the most practically used control sequences. Uncomplicated acute appendicitis can be managed with non-operative (antibiotic) treatment, but laparoscopic appendicectomy remains the first-line management in the UK. During the COVID-19 pandemic the practice altered, with more patients offered antibiotics as treatment. A large-scale observational study was designed comparing operative and non-operative management of appendicitis. The aim of this study was to evaluate 90-day follow-up.

The 2015 Lancet Commission on global surgery identified surgery and anaesthesia as indispensable parts of holistic health-care systems. However, COVID-19 exposed the fragility of planned surgical services around the world, which have also been neglected in pandemic recovery planning. This study aimed to develop and validate a novel index to support local elective surgical system strengthening and address growing backlogs.
