Giant orf is a zoonotic infection that is endemic in sheep and goats. It may be transmitted to humans by direct contact with infected animals or contaminated objects and is typically found on the hands. We report the case of a sheep farmer with facial orf that proliferated dramatically with the formation of satellite lesions after curettage.

The authors present the clinical results of their method of customized reconstruction of orbital wall defects using titanium mesh or sheet. High resolution computed tomography (CT) data are imported and processed to create a three-dimensional (3D) image which is used to reconstruct the orbital defect. Mirror imaging of the air in the contralateral maxillary sinus is used to overcome artefact defects in the floor. A stereolithographic model is constructed, from which titanium mesh or sheet is shaped ...

The increased use of high resolution computed tomography (CT) has enabled us to gain a better understanding of the complex anatomical structure of the bony orbit. When this technology is combined with three-dimensional reformatted images and stereolithographic models it allows us to construct more accurate, individually made, implants to reconstruct defects in the orbital floor.1

Several new substituted sulfonamide compounds were synthesized and their structures were confirmed by ¹H-NMR, ¹³C-NMR, FT-IR, and mass spectroscopy. The antibacterial activities of the synthesized compounds were screened against standard strains of six Gram positive and four Gram negative bacteria using the microbroth dilution assay. Most of the compounds studied showed promising activities against both types of bacteria.

Due to the recent development in the field of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), the Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) have become a major area of interest for the developers and researchers. Human body exhibits postural mobility due to which distance variation occurs and the status of connections amongst sensors change time to time. One of the major requirements of WBAN is to prolong the network lifetime without compromising on other performance measures, i.e., delay, throughput and bandwidth efficiency. ...

Abstract Collapsible soils are present in arid and semi-arid regions in an unsaturated state and are considered to be one of the problematic soils that face engineering and geotechnical challenges. They are regarded as sensitive soils where their structure and engineering properties change upon wetting (leaching or soaking). The wetting leads to a break in the bonds between the soil particles (salts or clay) and a decrease in the suction power that binds the soil particles together. Large settlement ...
