Abstract Magnitudes and colors of 30 star cluster candidates in three galaxies of the complex M81 – IC 342 are given, obtained from the plates obtained at the 6 m telescope. The color-magnitude diagrams of the cluster candidates are similar to those of the clusters in M33 and LMC. The apparent and absolute magnitudes of the bright cluster candidates in the galaxies studied are about 19.2 and −8.5 mag, respectively. One object in IC 2574 is very bright – its apparent and absolute magnitudes are estimated ...

In this paper we study some van den Bergh open clusters combining photometry and astrometry. A model which analyses the proper motion distribution and the stellar density is applied to find the kinematic parameters and stellar membership in the region of the open clusters vdB92, vdB146 (NGC 7129) and vdB150. The astrometric data are obtained from UCAC4 catalogue. The centre coordinates, the components of mean proper motion, the angular diameter and the astrometric members are reported, taking the ...

We consider models for the observed ro-vibrational absorption lines of acetylene toward NGC 7538 IRS9. The data are fit with multiple screens, each having separate column densities, rotational and vibrational excitation temperatures, and filling factors. The best fit was determined using a chi-squared minimization scheme. We find that only one screen is necessary—multiple screens gave rise to either making one of the screens transparent, or very occasionally making the two screens the same. As a ...

The cluster M67 (= NGC 2682) in Cancer is a rich stellar cluster, usually classified as an open cluster. Using our own observations with the 0.4 m telescope, we show that M67 is a tight group of about 1200 stars. The actual radius of the cluster is about 3.1 pc and the average mass of a star in the system is about . We also show that the ratio of the mean kinetic energy of the cluster to its mean gravitational potential energy , while the value predicted by the virial theorem is equal to . So the system ...

The discovery of gravitational waves resulting from the merger of two massive black holes (GW150914) has revolutionized our view of merging compact binaries. Recently, the Swope Supernova Survey of the optical counterpart of a gravitational wave event in the NGC 4993 galaxy, GW170817, emanating from the merger of two neutron stars, has triggered a lot of research work. Emphasis has been on comparing the existing theoretical models with the observational data, allowing for the prospect of an even ...
