The present work distinguishes the thermal attributes of zirconium oxide (ZrO2) and single wall-carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) in a three dimensional rotating frame under the magnetic field environment. Sodium alginate (NaC6H7O6) is assumed to be the base fluid. The slippage and convective conditions on boundary have also been incorporated. The analysis comprehends, comparatively, features of both SWCNTs-NaC6H7O6 and ZrO2–NaC6H7O6 nanofluids. The amalgamation of nanomaterial SWCNTs-ZrO2 in sodium alginate ...

Members of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC) have evolved causing tuberculosis (TB) in different mammalian hosts. MTBC ecotypes have adapted to diverse animal species, with M. bovis being the most common cause of TB in livestock. Cattle-to-human transmission of M. bovis through ingestion of raw milk was common before introduction of the pasteurization process. TB in humans is mainly caused by M. tuberculosis. This bacterium is considered a genetically clonal pathogen that has coevolved ...

Nacho Dimitrov,

The political changes in Bulgaria in 1989 are accompanied by severe economic crisis, high unemployment rate, and the emergence of acute social inequalities. These factors lead to intense migration processes. Furthermore, the ambiance generates conditions that enable the activation of new ways of constructing identities amongst most ethnic and confessional communities in the country. Immediately after the changes the Karakachans in Bulgaria become the object of political interest from neighboring ...

Virtualized infrastructure providers demand new methods to increase the accuracy of the accounting models used to charge their customers. Future data centers will be composed of many-core systems that will host a large number of virtual machines (VMs) each. While resource utilization accounting can be achieved with existing system tools, energy accounting is a complex task when per-VM granularity is the goal. In this paper, we propose a methodology that brings new opportunities to energy accounting ...

Given a trajectory T we study the problem of reporting all subtrajectory clusters of T. To measure similarity between trajectory we choose the Frechet distance. We adapt an existing serial algorithm into a GPU parallel algorithm, resulting in substantial speed-ups, in some cases up to 11× faster, and increasing the size of the data that can be handled in reasonable amount of time, tests were performed on trajectories three times the size as previously managed. This is to the best of our knowledge ...

Abstract Background Botulism is a rare and potentially fatal paralytic disease caused by botulinum neurotoxin (BoNT). In April 2017, 4 California residents from 2 adjacent counties were hospitalized with suspected foodborne botulism, precipitating an investigation by state and local public health departments in California. Methods We interviewed suspected botulism patients and their families, inspected the suspect establishment, and collected suspect food. We tested patient sera, stool, and gastric ...

Many orthodontists working on patients with cleft lip and palate (CLP) have shown great enthusiasm for presurgical infant orthopedics (PSIO) to improve surgical outcomes with minimal intervention. Even though every clinician aims to use the best treatment modality for their patients, PSIO effects can be confounded by surgical type and timing of the primary repair, as is discussed in many studies. In such cases, one should be cautious when evaluating the particular outcomes for patients with CLP since ...

Abstract Background We previously reported that impaired type I IFN activity, due to inborn errors of TLR3- and TLR7-dependent type I interferon (IFN) immunity or to autoantibodies against type I IFN, account for 15–20% of cases of life-threatening COVID-19 in unvaccinated patients. Therefore, the determinants of life-threatening COVID-19 remain to be identified in ~ 80% of cases. Methods We report here a genome-wide rare variant burden association analysis in 3269 unvaccinated patients with life-threatening ...
