The observation of ELF Schumann resonances in Nakatsugawa, Japan has suggested the presence of anomalous behavior in Schumann resonances (that is, the main point is the enhancement at the fourth (or the third) harmonic) at Nakatsugawa, and we have indicated that those anomalies in the Schumann resonances at Nakatsugawa are highly likely to be associated with the ...

Poor cold formability, poor corrosion resistance, and high cost of alloying elements are longstanding barriers to the widespread use of the lightest structural metal, viz. magnesium (Mg). Here, we report that both the room-temperature (RT) stretch formability and corrosion resistance of the commercially used pure Mg could be significantly improved by adding trace amounts of copper (Cu) and calcium (Ca). The mechanical properties were characterized by Erichsen cupping and tensile tests, while the corrosion ...

Although CD8+ T cells recognize neoantigens that arise from somatic mutations in cancer, only a small fraction of nonsynonymous mutations give rise to clinically relevant neoantigens. In this study, HLA class I ligandomes of a panel of human colorectal cancer (CRC) and matched normal tissues were analyzed using mass spectrometry–based proteogenomic analysis. Neoantigen presentation was rare; however, the analysis detected a single neoantigen in a mismatch repair–deficient CRC (dMMR-CRC) tissue sample ...

Tensile properties, formability and thermal conductivity of Mg-3Zn-0.5Ca-0.5Al-xMn (x: 0.1–1.5 in wt%) sheet alloys with different Mn contents were investigated. Benefitting from dense Al-Mn nanoscale spherical precipitates, yield strength was significantly enhanced by 39 MPa with increasing the Mn content from 0.1 wt% to 1 wt%. In the meanwhile, excellent formability was maintained with Erichsen values larger than 8 mm. Further increasing the Mn content to 1.5 wt% did not contribute to strengthening ...

This was a prospective study to evaluate the feasibility of the photic phenomena test (PPT) for quantifying glare, halo, and starburst. We compared two presbyopia-correcting intraocular lenses (IOLs), the Symfony IOL and the PanOptix IOL, as well as the monofocal Clareon IOL in 111 IOL-implanted eyes of 111 patients who underwent the PPT 1 month postoperatively. The reproducibility of photic phenomena with the PPT was assessed in 39 multifocal IOL-implanted eyes of 20 patients and among the examiners. ...

Abstract CD8+ T cells recognize peptides displayed by HLA class I molecules on cell surfaces, monitoring pathologic conditions such as cancer. Advances in proteogenomic analysis of HLA ligandomes have demonstrated that cells present a subset of cryptic peptides derived from noncoding regions of the genome; however, the roles of cryptic HLA ligands in tumor immunity remain unknown. In the current study, we comprehensively and quantitatively investigated the HLA class I ligandome of a set of human ...

HLA-restricted T cell responses can induce antitumor effects in cancer patients. Previous human T cell research has largely focused on the few HLA alleles prevalent in a subset of ethnic groups. Here, using a panel of newly developed peptide-exchangeable peptide/HLA multimers and artificial antigen-presenting cells for 25 different class I alleles and greater than 800 peptides, we systematically and comprehensively mapped shared antigenic epitopes recognized by tumor-infiltrating T lymphocytes (TILs) ...

Abstract Background Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease is characterized by excessive hepatic fat accumulation. Some individuals frequently present elevated gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) levels without fatty liver ultrasound images and other abnormal liver enzymes levels. However, whether these individuals are at an elevated risk for developing fatty liver is unclear. We compared fatty liver change rates and risk factors between individuals with frequently elevated GGT levels and those with normal ...

The Technical Design for the COMET Phase-I experiment is presented in this paper. COMET is an experiment at J-PARC, Japan, which will search for neutrinoless conversion of muons into electrons in the field of an aluminium nucleus ($\mu-e$ conversion, $\mu^- N \to e^- N$); a lepton flavor violating process. The experimental sensitivity goal for this process in the Phase-I experiment is $3.1\times10^{-15}$, or 90 % upper limit of branching ratio of $7\times 10^{-15}$, which is a factor of 100 improvement over ...
