Objective. Mendelian and complex autoinflammatory disorders frequently manifest as recurrent abdominal pain and fever. Diagnosis may be difficult and scant data are available about the interest of 2-deoxy-2-[18F]fluoro-d-glucose-positron emission tomography/computed tomography (FDG-PET/CT) in such conditions, particularly aseptic abscesses (AA). Material and methods. We analyzed five cases of AA in which FDG-PET/CT was performed at diagnosis (n = 2) and after a suspected relapse (n = 5). Follow-up FDG-PET/ ...

Many construction organizations have misunderstood the reality that total quality management (TQM) based on continuous improvement requires a commitment to learning and that essentially it is the means to a learning organization. The paper argues that if the construction industry is to improve its performance and competitiveness, then there needs to be a cultural and behavioural shift in the mind-set of practitioners, academics and the professional institutions. Their focus should be on re-thinking ...

In rat plasma, 109Cd was mainly associated with α-globulin fraction and 65Zn was bound to and β-globulins. Subcutaneously injected cadmium chloride Cd 109 and zinc chloride Zn 65 resulted in rapid clearance of 109Cd from blood plasma, as compared to 65Zn. Blood cells accumulated 65Zn more rapidity than 109Cd. Greatest uptakes of 109Cd per unit weight of tissue were by liver, kidneys, and pancreas, but that of 65Zn was by the pancreas. From all tissues, 65Zn was depleted eventually. In the first ...

Abstract Rats and mice were injected subcutaneousty with cadmium chloride Cd 109 and zinc chloride Zn 65. Both isotopes concentrated primarily in liver and kidneys. Tissue subcellular fractionation showed 70% to 80% 109Cd and 65Zn associated with cytoplasmic soluble fraction. Soluble fraction gel filtration revealed most 109Cd was bound to proteins of 11,000 to 12,000 molecular weight; 65Zn was associated mainly with larger sized molecules. In rats, two weeks following isotope dose, depletion of ...

Despite their major advantage of hardware simplicity, ternary filters have limited usability in practice owing to their unresolved problem of adaptivity. This challenging problem is tackled by introducing an adaptive ternary LMS-like algorithm. Performance assessment using a sinusoidal input distorted by additive white Gaussian noise showed that the proposed algorithm is comparable to the traditional multi-bit Wiener LMS algorithm. This approach is expected to open the door for ternary systems to ...

We present a geometrical and time-variant wireless vector channel model with hyperbolically distributed scatterers for a macrocell mobile environment. This model is based on the assumption that the scatterers are arranged circularly around the mobile station, whereby the distance between the mobile and the local scatterers and the distance between the local scatterers and the dominant scatterers are distributed hyperbolically. The proposed model allows investigation of beamforming aspects as well ...

During the 1990s, companies focused on the adoption of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to solve integration problems. However, ERP systems automate core business activities without solving underlying business structures and processes. As a result a number of disparate applications often coexist with ERP systems. To better understand ERP and application integration (AI) problems, this paper proposes to identify, analyse and present the problems of ERP systems, as well as examining new approaches ...

This structure contains only one multiplication arithmetic found in traditional filtering operations, whilst producing a filtered single-bit output. The theme of these works has been to efficiently and simply filter signals ...
