Sheep naturally acquire a degree of resistant immunity to parasitic worm infection through repeated exposure. However, the immune response and clinical outcome vary greatly between animals. Genetic polymorphisms in genes integral to differential T helper cell polarization may contribute to variation in host response and disease outcome. A total of twelve single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were sequenced in IL23R, RORC2 and TBX21 from genomic DNA of Scottish Blackface lambs. Of the twelve SNPs, ...

Although coronary artery disease and gastroesophageal reflux disease are common conditions which, therefore, may coexist, it is unknown whether or not the presence of one affects the other. We performed esophageal acid perfusion tests, with concurrent blood pressure, heart rate, and 12-lead electrocardiographic monitoring, in 37 patients, 25 with angiographically documented coronary disease and 12 with normal coronary arteries. Rate-pressure product, an index of myocardial work load, was calculated. ...

The 18th European Conference on Applications of Surface and Interface Analysis (ECASIA'19) was held in the International Congress Center of Dresden, Germany, from 15 to 20 September 2019. It was the third time ECASIA was organized in Germany after the early beginning of the conference series in Fellbach/Stuttgart (1987) and in Berlin (2003). As hosts, it was a pleasure for us that the International Steering Committee (ISC) selected Dresden as the conference location. Dresden really is a center of innovation ...
