Representing AMD's entry into 64-bit computing, Opteron combines the backwards compatibility of the X86-64 architecture with a DDR memory controller and hypertransport links to deliver server-class performance. These features also make Opteron a flexible, modular, and easily connectable component for various multiprocessor configurations.

The study investigated hypoxia-associated markers (HIF-2α, Epo, Epo-R, Glut-1 and VEGF) along with Ki-67 in a gastric carcinogenesis model, and the prognostic significance of hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)-2α in surgically treated gastro-oesophageal cancer. Protein expression was examined using immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded biopsies of normal mucosa (n=20), Helicobacter pylori-associated gastritis (n=24), intestinal metaplasia (n=24), dysplasia (n=12) and intestinal (n=19) and ...

Hypoxia-associated markers are involved in the progression of several malignancies, but are relatively unstudied in Barrett's carcinogenesis. Our aim was to assess the immunohistochemical expression of hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)-1α, HIF-2α, erythropoietin (Epo), Epo receptor (Epo-R), Glut-1 and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) along with Ki67/MIB-1 in the Barrett's metaplasia–dysplasia–adenocarcinoma sequence. The Long-Term Sludge Experiments (LTSE) began in 1994 as part of continuing research into the effects of sludge-borne heavy metals on soil fertility. The long-term effects of Zn, Cu, and Cd on soil microbial biomass carbon (Cmic) were monitored for 8 years (1997-2005) in sludge amended soils at nine UK field sites. To assess the statutory limits set by the UK Sludge (Use in Agriculture) Regulations the experimental data has been reviewed using the statistical methods of meta-analysis. Previous LTSE ...

Abstract The purpose of this research was to examine the extent to which social support and wider community perceptions/engagements among adolescents are connected with well‐being. We compared adolescents in two different societal contexts, Florida in the United States and County Offaly, in Ireland, and posed the questions: What are the key predictors of subjective well‐being from the various sources of support, and to what extent does the impact of social support on well‐being vary across these ...

Abstract Social support is widely seen as an integral component for coping with the stresses of everyday life. While there are various sources and types of support potentially available to young people, it is perhaps less obvious the extent to which young people differentially experience these sources and types. Anecdotal evidence suggests that context, culture and other factors unique to local life shape the many dimensions of social support for youth. In this paper, we seek to examine this research ...

Aileen Shaw, Bernadine Brady, Brian McGrath, Mark A. Brennan, Pat Dolan,

While civic engagement provides a rich rationale for intervention, the array of discourses urging a focus on youth engagement or action means that the concept can be confusing, cluttered, and lacking consistent operationalization. From the perspective of policy-makers and program managers, it can be challenging to disentangle the competing messages and assumptions about young people that underpin the rhetoric in relation to youth engagement. Using a wide range of international research, the purpose ...

ABSTRACT The proposed phytoremediation technique is based on the successful exploitation and optimization of oxidative coupling, mediated by horseradish peroxidase. Susceptibility to degradation of a selection of phenolic compounds, in solution, by horseradish peroxidase appears to be structurally related and was found to be of the order 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DCP) > 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) > 2-chlorophenol (2-CP). Only 1.89% of 2,4-DCP, at an initial concentration of 5 mM, remained unchanged at the end ...
