No approved treatment for peanut allergy exists for children younger than 4 years of age, and the efficacy and safety of epicutaneous immunotherapy with a peanut patch in toddlers with peanut allergy are unknown. We conducted this phase 3, multicenter, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial involving children 1 to 3 years of age with peanut allergy confirmed by a double-blind, placebo-controlled food challenge. Patients who had an eliciting dose (the dose necessary to elicit an allergic ...

Hypoxic areas are typically resistant to treatment. However, the fluorine-18-fluoroazomycin-arabinoside (FAZA) and fluorine 18 misonidazole (FMISO) tracers have never been compared in non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This study compares the capability of 18F-FAZA PET/CT with that of 18F-FMISO PET/CT for detecting hypoxic tumour regions in early and locally advanced NSCLC patients. We prospectively evaluated patients who underwent preoperative PET scans before surgery for localised NSCLC (i.e., fluorodeoxyglucose ( ...

A kinetic surface model is presented and used to explain the loading and desorption kinetics of tritium retained in micrometre-sized tungsten (W) dust particles. The model describes the sticking of hydrogen isotopes from the gas phase to W surfaces and the desorption from W surfaces. The initial sticking coefficient is set to one and independent of the temperature. The activation energy for desorption depends on the hydrogen coverage of the surface and is parameterised with density functional theory ( ...

Ultrafast laser was recently used to modify the surface integrity and peen the surface region of aluminum based alloy 2024-T351 without a sacrificial layer prior to the process. We show that controllable laser parameters such as fluence and pulse duration have a significant influence on peening qualities, such as the compressive residual stress, hardness, and surface roughness of peened parts. The residual stress profile was analyzed by x-ray diffraction. By controlling the laser fluence and pulse ...

Nitrogen is a well-known gamma-stabiliser in austenitic steels, also responsible for significant solid solution hardening of these materials. Yet, only few papers have studied its impact on austenitic high-entropy alloy (HEA) matrixes. This study focuses on a cobalt-free, non equimolar CrFeMnNi HEA doped with nitrogen. A series of alloys was cast under a nitriding atmosphere to promote nitrogen absorption into the liquid alloy. Study of as-cast alloys has shown nitrogen presence in solid solution ...

The paper presents complementary approaches based on experimental and numerical works to address the behavior of tokamak-relevant tungsten particles loaded with tritium. Sampling of particles inside the WEST tokamak have been realized thanks to an in situ particle collection system called Duster Box. This method allowed to identify various types of tungsten particles among them spherical shaped micro-particles between 5 µm and 30 µm in diameter. Based on these results a surrogate tungsten powder ...

Adhesion forces between tungsten spherical microparticles and tungsten substrates with different roughnesses have been measured using the Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) colloidal probe technique. Mean roughnesses of the tungsten substrates were measured by AFM and were ranked in three categories i.e. nanoscale, sub-microscale and microscale roughnesses. Experimental Hamaker constant of 37±3.5×10−20 J has been obtained using a spherical tungsten particle of 10.5 μm in radius and a tungsten substrate ...

During a loss of vacuum accident (LOVA), dusts that will be present in the future tokamak ITER are likely to be resuspended. Such dusts may present a risk of explosion and airborne contamination. Hence, an assessment of the amount of particles which may be resuspended in case of LOVA is a major safety issue in ITER and more widely for all the fusion reactors. This article presents the implementation of the Rock'n'Roll model for the particle resuspension in ANSYS CFX and its coupling with a validated ...

During International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor operation, due to plasma–wall interaction, particles/dust will be created in sizes ranging from nanometers to tens of microns. The dust properties, especially their ability to be covered by a thin oxide electrostatic insulating layer, and surface topology deeply affect their tritium inventory. Consequently, physico-chemical properties specific to tritiated tungsten particles and consequence on particle behavior in the facility and environment ...

The importance of digitalization is widely recognized, but digital transformation is not commonplace, and companies often struggle to face the challenges it entails. Digitalization and digital transformation are even more challenging for manufacturing SMEs. In this paper, we aim at investigating the barriers to digital servitization faced by manufacturing SMEs. We build on a literature review on barriers and obstacles to digital servitization, and present a set of case studies that enable us to ...

Abstract: Minimally invasive sublobar anatomical resection is becoming more and more popular to manage early lung lesions. Robotic-assisted thoracic surgery (RATS) is unique in comparison with other minimally invasive techniques. Indeed, RATS is able to better integrate multiple streams of information including advanced imaging techniques, in an immersive experience at the level of the robotic console. Our aim was to describe three-dimensional (3D) imaging throughout the surgical procedure from preoperative ...

Background: Thoracic surgery is currently the optimal treatment for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, it may be responsible for numerous postoperative complications and is often used in patients with multi co morbidities. In recent years, the optimization of a patient's physical capacity before surgery has been the subject of several studies. The objective of this study was to determine whether participation in a prehabilitation program would improve outcomes after surgery and lower morbidity ...

Abstract Background The erosion of the early mortality advantage of elective endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) compared with open repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm remains without a satisfactory explanation. Methods An individual-patient data meta-analysis of four multicentre randomized trials of EVARversus open repair was conducted to a prespecified analysis plan, reporting on mortality, aneurysm-related mortality and reintervention. Results The analysis included 2783 patients, with 14 245 person- ...

Minimally invasive procedures are used for the surgical treatment of lung cancer. Two techniques are proposed: video-assisted thoracic surgery or robotic-assisted thoracic surgery. Our goal was to study the economic impact of our long-standing program for minimally invasive procedures for major lung resection. We conducted a single-centre, 1-year prospective cost study. Patients who underwent lobectomy or segmentectomy were included. Patient characteristics and perioperative outcomes were collected. ...

Adrenal oligometastatic non-small-cell lung cancer is rare, and surgical management remains controversial. We performed a multicentre, retrospective study from January 2004 to December 2014. The main objective was to evaluate survival in patients who had undergone adrenalectomy after resection of primary lung cancer. Secondary objectives were to determine prognostic, survival and recurrence factors. Fifty-nine patients were included. Forty-six patients (78%) were men. The median age was 58 years [ ...
