Abstract Posaconazole (SCH 56592) is a novel triazole antifungal drug that is marketed in Europe and the United States under the trade name ‘Noxafil’ for prophylaxis against invasive fungal infections. SCH 56592 was discovered as a possible active metabolite of SCH 51048, an earlier lead. Initial studies have shown that serum concentrations determined by a microbiological assay were higher than those determined by HPLC from animals dosed with SCH 51048. Subsequently, several animals species were dosed ...

Schafer (1969) has pointed out that the Hilbert transform approach used in computing the minimum‐phase spectrum of a given amplitude spectrum corresponds to a special case of complex‐cepstrum analysis in which the phase information of the original function is ignored. The resulting complex cepstrum is an even function. Since a minimum‐phase function has no complex‐cepstrum contributions for T<0, its even part must exactly cancel the odd part for T<0. Thus, by setting all complex‐cepstrum contributions ...

This paper models an operation and rescue system where upon the failure of the operation system (if occurring), the rescue system is immediately activated to prevent the entire system loss or destruction. Both operation and rescue systems are series structures composed of 1–out-of-n warm standby subsystems. Different subsystems may have different redundancy levels, and components within each subsystem can be of heterogeneous types with different lifetime distributions and costs (due to purchasing ...

Quantization is a central issue in automatic music transcription programs which convert a musical performance into music notation. Commercially available packages are still quite unsuccessful in this respect. A report on the development of a robust quantizer is given which makes use of recursive vector quantization based on data from perceptual experiments and a statistical characterization of scores and performances.

Abstract Background The Personalized Advantage Index (PAI) shows promise as a method for identifying the most effective treatment for individual patients. Previous studies have demonstrated its utility in retrospective evaluations across various settings. In this study, we explored the effect of different methodological choices in predictive modelling underlying the PAI. Methods Our approach involved a two-step procedure. First, we conducted a review of prior studies utilizing the PAI, evaluating ...

Background: Advances in ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF) continue to be hindered by ambiguities in mapping, even between experts. We hypothesized that convolutional neural networks (CNN) may enable objective analysis of intracardiac activation in AF, which could be applied clinically if CNN classifications could also be explained. Methods: We performed panoramic recording of bi-atrial electrical signals in AF. We used the Hilbert-transform to produce 175 000 image grids in 35 patients, labeled ...

Twenty-six years ago a small committee report, building on earlier studies, expounded a compelling and poetic vision for the future of astronomy, calling for an infrared-optimized space telescope with an aperture of at least $4m$. With the support of their governments in the US, Europe, and Canada, 20,000 people realized that vision as the $6.5m$ James Webb Space Telescope. A generation of astronomers will celebrate their accomplishments for the life of the mission, potentially as long as 20 years, ...
