Recently the second and fourth authors developed an iterative scheme for obtaining rough solutions of the 3D incompressible Euler equations in Hölder spaces. The motivation comes from Onsager's conjecture. The construction involves a superposition of weakly interacting perturbed Beltrami flows on infinitely many scales. An obstruction to better regularity arises from the errors in the linear transport of a fast periodic flow by a slow velocity field. In a recent paper the third author has improved upon ...

A trend in software engineering is towards model-driven development. Models are used to document requirements, design results, and analysis in early phases of the development process. However, the aim of modeling is very often more ambitious as models are used for automatic generation in so-called model-driven engineering approaches. The relevance of models leads to the need of both, high-level domain specific modeling languages (DSML), and metamodels which are the basis for the definition of model ...

p38 is a member of the mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase family and is a critical enzyme in the proinflammatory cytokine pathway. Other MAP kinase group members that share both structural and functional homology to p38 include the c-Jun NH2-terminal kinases (JNKs or SAPKs) and the extracellular-regulated protein kinases (ERKs). In this study, we determined the molecular basis for p38α inhibitor specificity exhibited by five compounds in the diarylimidazole, triarylimidazole, and triarylpyrrole ...

A general Monte Carlo code for the simulation of energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (ED-XRF) spectrometers is presented. As a significant extension to existing Monte Carlo codes, dedicated to ED-XRF spectrometers, the new code includes several unique features such as the simulation of M-lines and cascade effects. The detector response function was extended with fluorescence and Compton escape peaks, as well as with pulse pile-up. A full description of the underlying algorithms is given. The software ...

Abstract The matching preclusion number of a graph with an even number of vertices is the minimum number of edges whose deletion results in a graph that has no perfect matchings. For many interconnection networks, the optimal sets are precisely those induced by a single vertex. It is natural to look for obstruction sets beyond those induced by a single vertex. The conditional matching preclusion number of a graph is the minimum number of edges whose deletion results in a graph with no isolated vertices ...

Present-day people from England and Wales have more ancestry derived from early European farmers (EEF) than did people of the Early Bronze Age1. To understand this, here we generated genome-wide data from 793 individuals, increasing data from the Middle to the Late Bronze Age and Iron Age in Britain by 12-fold, and western and central Europe by 3.5-fold. Between 1000 and 875 BC, EEF ancestry increased in southern Britain (England and Wales) but not northern Britain (Scotland) due to incorporation of ...

During 2010 the LHC delivered pp collisions with a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. In this paper, the results of comprehensive studies of missing transverse energy as measured by the CMS detector are presented. The results cover the measurements of the scale and resolution for missing transverse energy, and the effects of multiple pp interactions within the same bunch crossings on the scale and resolution. Anomalous measurements of missing transverse energy are studied, and algorithms for their ...
