From 1986 to 1999, 2460 HIV-positive inpatients were seen in our Hospital. Neurological abnormalities were detected in 1053 (42.8%) patients. In this paper the spatial distribution of Plecoptera nymphs in the Almas' River basin, Pirenópolis, GO, was studied. The relationships between wrist laxity, ulnar variance, sigmoid notch inclination, and lunotriquetral motion were analysed in 60 normal volunteers. A strong correlation between ulnar length and sigmoid notch inclination was found for the entire group. Joint laxity was found to correlate with ulnar variance and lunotriquetral mobility in women, but not in men. Kempnyia neotropica is the species with the widest distribution in this genus. In this work, samples collected in the states of Goiás, Minas Gerais and São Paulo were analysed, confirming that all belong to a single species. The influence of temperature on prey consumption and growth in mass of juvenile trahira Hoplias aff. malabaricus were investigated. Consumption of small‐sized lambari Astyanax altiparanae (mean standard length, L S , 5·43 cm) varied from zero to 65 over a period of 30 days.
