Abstract This work evaluates the effect caused by the addition of Fe 3+ and Nb 5+ ions on the piezoelectric properties of lead zirconate titanate. Three compounds were obtained using the conventional method of mixture of oxides. The oxides were calcined at 850 °C and after that submitted to a uniaxial pressure of 70 MPa and an isostatic pressure of 200 MPa. Subsequently, the samples were sintered at 1200 and 1250 °C for 3.5 h. The surfaces were metalized and polarized in order to determine the piezoelectric ...

In this work, the electrical properties of graphene papers were investigated with the aim of developing pressure sensor prototypes for measuring pressures up to 2 kPa. In order to determine which graphene paper would be the most suitable, three different types of graphene papers, synthesized by different routes, were prepared and electrically characterized. The results of electrical characterizations, in terms of electrical conductivity and sheet resistance of graphene papers, are presented and ...

The thyroid function (T-3 triiodothyronine; T-4 tetraiodothyronine and the captation of the I131 through the thyroid, in 2 and 24 hours after the intake of isotope radium), was studied in patients with Down's syndrome and the results being compared to those obtained from the respective siblings, all clinically normal. The comparative results showed no significant differences, except in the 2 hours captation of the I131 through the thyroid (P smaller than 0.01). The findings suggest that the hypothalamus- ...
