Recent empirical work has shown the importance of nonlinear adjustment in the dynamics of real exchange rates and real interest differentials. This work suggests that the tenuous empirical linkage between the real exchange rate and the real interest differential might be strengthened by explicitly accounting for these nonlinearities. The global financial crisis of 2008 and the debt crisis of 2010 in the Eurozone create multiple anomalies in the international financial system. The current article examines if the Eurozone is able to expand further. Exchange rates constitute an important parameter in order to examine the EU integration.
