Pollen and chironomid analyses and radiocarbon dating at Pye Lake on the eastern shore of Nova Scotia are used to outline the vegetation and climatic history of the area. The coast was deglaciated prior to ∼12 200 14 C BP (14 300 cal BP), and herbaceous tundra vegetation invaded the area. Midge-inferred maximum summer surface-water temperatures in the lake ranged between 9 and 11 °C. A new vagrant species of eriophyoid mite, Asetadiptacus acarubri n. sp., is described and illustrated from Rubus fruticosus (Rosaceae) in Britain, a key to the world species of Asetadiptacus is provided, and Anthocoptes rubicolens Roivainen and Trimeroptes rubi Bagdasarian are recorded from Britain for the first time. Abstract Cases of intraoperative hyperkalaemia in healthy greyhound dogs under general anaesthesia have previously been reported in veterinary literature. This case report describes the identification and treatment of hyperkalaemia in an otherwise healthy greyhound undergoing general anaesthesia for a fracture repair.
