Fungus-growing termites are important pests for buildings and agriculture in Asia and Africa. This study assessed four insecticides (fipronil 5% SC, imidacloprid 20 SL, thiamethoxam 25 WG and chlorfenapyr 360 SC) for their toxicity and repellency to the fungus-growing termite, Odontotermes obesus (Rambur, 1842) (Blattodea: Termitidae: Macrotermitinae). The study was conducted at Ghazi University, Dera Ghazi Khan, Pakistan from September-October, 2016 and was undertaken to identify effective termiticides ...

This work aimed to study the effect of host biological factors on the different parasitic helminthes in Clarias gariepinus from Lake Manzala. The sex, weight and length of fish were determined. Examination of C. gariepinus fish for helminthes revealed the presence of three morphologically distinct adult helminthes in the digestive tract which were Polyonchobothrium clarias and Monobothrium wageneri (Cestodes) and Neoechinorhynchus rutili (Acanthocephala) and there were also the cestodes larvae (Plerocercoid) ...

The aim of this work is to study the effect of host biological factors on the different parasitic helminthes in Oreochromis niloticus and Tilapia zilli from Lake Manzala. The sex, weight and length of fish were determined. The examination of fish revealed the presence of seven distinct defined metacercariae in addition to undifferentiated metacercariae and nematode larvae. The recovered metacercariae were Centrocestus sp., Haplorchis sp., heterophyes sp., Stictodora sp., Pygidiopsis sp., Echinostoma ...

Even though most thyroid subjects are undiagnosed due to nonspecific symptoms, universal screening for thyroid disease is not recommended for the general population. In this study, our motive is to compare thyroid autoantibody anti-TPO and IL-17 in addition to traditional thyroid markers TSH, T4, and T3 between two patients' groups (patients with hypothyroidism (TSH) > 6 mIU/L and patients with hyperthyroidism TSH between 0.3 and 6 mIU/L) with a control group. Here a total of 45 subjects were divided ...

Objectives: Timing of tracheostomy in patients with COVID-19 has attracted substantial attention. Initial guidelines recommended delaying or avoiding tracheostomy due to the potential for particle aerosolization and theoretical risk to providers. However, early tracheostomy could improve patient outcomes and alleviate resource shortages. This study compares outcomes in a diverse population of hospitalized COVID-19 patients who underwent tracheostomy either “early” (within 14 d of intubation) or “late” ( ...
