Autogenous bone grafts from the iliac crest are frequently harvested for autologous bone transplantation, because this is still the gold standard in the treatment of many bone defects. However, significant donor site morbidity must be considered. We have developed a simple method to treat the bone defect in the donor site in order to reduce some of the morbidity. In this method, the bone defect size and shape determines its application. After the conventional method of tricortical bone harvesting ...

Oncolytic adenoviruses are promising anticancer agents due to their ability to self-amplify at the tumor mass. However, tumor stroma imposes barriers difficult to overcome by these agents. Transgene expression is a valuable strategy to counteract these limitations and to enhance antitumor activity. For this purpose, the genetic backbone in which the transgene is inserted should be optimized to render transgene expression compatible with the adenovirus replication cycle and to keep genome size within ...

Animals moving in groups coordinate their motion to remain cohesive. A large amount of data and analysis of movement coordination has been obtained in several species, but we are lacking theoretical frameworks that can derive the form of coordination rules. Here, we examine whether optimal control theory can predict the rules underlying social interactions from first principles. We find that a control rule which is designed to minimize the time it would take a pair of schooling fish to form a cohesively ...

Summary A common theme across multiple successful immunotherapies for cancer is the recognition of tumor-specific mutations (neoantigens) by T cells. The rapid discovery of such antigen responses could lead to improved therapies through the adoptive transfer of T cells engineered to express neoantigen-reactive T cell receptors (TCRs). Here, through CITE-seq (cellular indexing of transcriptomes and epitopes by sequencing) and TCR-seq of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs), ...

Abstract Na 12 Ge 17 is prepared from the elements at 1025 K in sealed niobium ampoules. The crystal structure reinvestigation reveals a doubling of the unit cell (space group: P 2 1 / c ; a = 22.117(3)Å, b = 12.803(3)Å, c = 41.557(6)Å, β = 91.31(2)°, Z = 16; Pearson code: mP 464), furthermore, weak superstructure reflections indicate an even larger C ‐centred monoclinic cell. The characteristic structural units are the isolated cluster anions [Ge 9 ] 4— and [Ge 4 ] 4— in ratio 1:2, respectively. The crystal structure ...

The structural parameters of $\epsilon$-FeGe have been determined at ambient conditions using single crystal refinement. Powder diffraction have been carried out to determine structural properties and compressibility for pressures up to 30 GPa and temperatures as low as 82 K. The discontinuous change in the pressure dependence of the shortest Fe-Ge interatomic distance might be interpreted as a symmetry-conserving transition and seems to be related to a magnetic phase boundary line.
