Abstract Background Early markers of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder ( ADHD ) and Autism Spectrum Disorder ( ASD ) may improve the understanding and early recognition of these disorders. We aimed to estimate the association between head circumference at birth, a measure of cerebral size at birth, and the risk of ADHD and ASD . Methods We present a register‐based cohort study of all Danish singletons born alive between 1997 and 2013. Cox proportional hazards regression was used for the statistical ...

We present a new, precise and accurate method for quantitative analysis of chlormequat in soil and aqueous matrices. The method, which is based on LC–MS/MS, pressurised liquid extraction and solid-phase extraction, is eminently suitable for studying the fate of chlormequat in the soil environment. The limit of detection is 0.003–0.008 μg/L for rainwater, surface water and groundwater and 0.07–0.4 μg/kg for soil. In water samples amended to 0.04 μg/L, precision is better than 10%. The residual content ...

The purpose of the work presented here was to evaluate the influence of solution composition and analyte characteristics on responsiveness to analysis with negative ion electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. The responses of a series of structurally diverse acidic molecules were compared in various solvents. Response was generally observed to be higher in methanol than acetonitrile and response for all analytes was poorer when water was mixed with the organic solvent. A positive correlation ...

Franckeite, approximately Pb4.6Ag0.2Sn2.5Fe0.8Sb2S12.6, consists of alternating pseudohexagonal (H) and pseudotetragonal (Q) layers. Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) of freshly cleaved franckeite, from San José, Bolivia, revealed the atomic structure of the pseudohexagonal component. On AFM images, the expected pattern with b = 3.2 Å was observed. STM revealed a √3 × √3 superstructure, with b' = 6.3 Å, interpreted to be caused by tunneling effects. The pseudotetragonal layer ...

A method developed for study of metribuzin degradation in soil is presented. LC-MS-MS and electrospray ionisation was used for analysis of metribuzin and the metabolites deaminometribuzin (DA), diketometribuzin (DK) and deaminodiketometribuzin (DADK). Soil samples were extracted by pressurized liquid extraction using methanol-water (75:25) at 60 degrees C. In general, recoveries were about 75% for metribuzin, DA and DADK and their detection limit in soil was 1.25 microg/kg. Lower sensitivity was observed ...

Abstract Human glioblastoma multiforme ( GBM ) is an aggressive cancer with a very poor prognosis. C ripto‐1 ( CR ‐1) has a key regulatory role in embryogenesis, while in adult tissue re‐expression of CR ‐1 has been correlated to malignant progression in solid cancers of non‐neuronal origin. As CR ‐1 expression has yet to be described in cerebral cancer and CR ‐1 is regulated by signaling pathways dysregulated in GBM , we aimed to investigate CR ‐1 in the context of expression in GBM . The study was performed ...

A solid-phase microextraction (SPME) method was developed for the analysis of acidic pesticide residues in water. The method utilizes in situ derivatization with butylchloroformate (BuCF), followed by on-line SPME extraction using a PDMS fibre, and analysis by GC-MS. Derivatives of the phenoxy acids mechlorprop (MCPP), dichlorprop (DCPP), MCPA and 2,4-D and their phenol degradation products 4-chloro-2-methylphenol and 2,4-dichlorophenol (DCP) were identified. Detection limits at 0.16-2.3 microg/l were ...

Introduction Brain and central nervous system (CNS) tumors are the second most common cancer type in children and adolescents. Positron emission tomography (PET) imaging with radiolabeled amino acids visualizes the amino acid uptake in brain tumor cells compared with the healthy brain tissue, which provides additional information over magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for differential diagnosis, treatment planning, and the differentiation of tumor relapse from treatment-related changes. However, tumor ...

Complete resection is the treatment of choice for most pediatric brain tumors, but early postoperative MRI for detection of residual tumor may be misleading because of MRI signal changes caused by the operation. PET imaging with amino acid tracers in adults increases the diagnostic accuracy for brain tumors, but the literature in pediatric neurooncology is limited. A hybrid PET/MRI system is highly beneficial in children, reducing the number of scanning procedures, and this is to our knowledge the ...

Amylosucrase (E.C. 2.4.1.4) is a member of Family 13 of the glycoside hydrolases (the α-amylases), although its biological function is the synthesis of amylose-like polymers from sucrose. The structure of amylosucrase from Neisseria polysaccharea is divided into five domains: an all helical N-terminal domain that is not similar to any known fold, a (β/α) 8 -barrel A-domain, B- and B′-domains displaying α/β-structure, and a C-terminal eight-stranded β-sheet domain. In contrast to other Family 13 hydrolases ...

Recombinant amylosucrase from Neisseria polysaccharea was crystallized by the vapour-diffusion procedure in the presence of polyethylene glycol 6000. The crystals belong to the orthorhombic space group P21212, with unit-cell parameters a = 95.7, b = 117.2, c = 62.1 Å, and diffract to 1.6 Å resolution. A p-chloromercuribenzene sulfonate (pcmbs) derivative has been identified and a selenomethionine-substituted protein has been produced and crystallized.

Abstract Background Central nervous system (CNS) tumors cause the highest death rates among childhood cancers, and survivors frequently have severe late effects. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the imaging modality of choice, but its specificity can be challenged by treatment-induced signal changes. We assessed the clinical impact and diagnostic accuracy of adding [18F]FET PET to MRI in children with ...

The best model for each pADE was validated in 100 bootstrap samples. The C-score was then aggregated and predicted individual pADE risk as the probability to develop at least 1 ...

Polygenic risk scores (PRSs) are expected to play a critical role in precision medicine. Currently, PRS predictors are generally based on linear models using summary statistics, and more recently individual-level data. However, these predictors mainly capture additive relationships and are limited in data modalities they can use. We developed a deep learning framework (EIR) for PRS prediction which includes a model, genome-local-net (GLN), specifically designed for large-scale genomics data. The framework ...

In patients with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC), the clinical efficacy of monotherapy with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) against PD-1/PD-L1 is modest.
