A bstract The ALICE experiment at the LHC has studied J/ ψ production at mid-rapidity in pp collisions at $ \sqrt{s}=7 $ TeV through its electron pair decay on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity L int = 5 . 6 nb −1 . The fraction of J/ ψ from the decay of long-lived beauty hadrons was determined for J/ ψ candidates with transverse momentum p t > 1 . 3 GeV/ c and rapidity | y | < 0 . 9. Abstract Background Surgical services are preparing to scale up in areas affected by COVID-19. This study aimed to evaluate the association between preoperative SARS-CoV-2 testing and postoperative pulmonary complications in patients undergoing elective cancer surgery. Methods This international cohort study included adult patients undergoing elective surgery for cancer in areas affected by SARS-CoV-2 up to 19 April 2020. The Transition Radiation Detector (TRD) was designed and built to enhance the capabilities of the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). While aimed at providing electron identification and triggering, the TRD also contributes significantly to the track reconstruction and calibration in the central barrel of ALICE. Angular correlations between charged trigger and associated particles are measured by the ALICE detector in p–Pb collisions at a nucleon–nucleon centre-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV for transverse momentum ranges within 0.5<pT,assoc<pT,trig<4GeV/c. ALICE is the heavy-ion experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The experiment continuously took data during the first physics campaign of the machine from fall 2009 until early 2013, using proton and lead-ion beams. In this paper we describe the running environment and the data handling procedures, and discuss the performance of the ALICE detectors and analysis methods for various physics observables.

A bstract We present measurements of Underlying Event observables in pp collisions at $ \sqrt {s} = 0.9 $ and 7TeV. The analysis is performed as a function of the highest charged-particle transverse momentum p T,LT in the event. Antes mesmo da chegada da família real, em 1808, o Rio de Janeiro havia se transformado no principal centro urbano da América portuguesa. No entanto, isso tinha implicações negativas para a população mais pobres. O aumento demográfico fazia com que os preços dos alimentos básicos subissem, assim como tornava mais difícil o acesso a terrenos para construção de habitações. O presente artigo analisa o impacto dessa situação no aumento de óbitos de pobres registrados na Santa Casa da Misericórdia carioca.

Case-control studies involving test-negative (TN) and syndrome-negative (SN) controls are reliable for evaluating influenza and rotavirus vaccine effectiveness (VE) during a random vaccination process. However, there is no empirical evidence regarding the impact in real-world mass vaccination campaigns against SARS-CoV-2 using TN and SN controls.
