Effect of laser priming on canola yield and its components under salt stress The effect of laser priming at different irradiation times on canola yield and its components under saline conditions were investigated. The results showed that laser priming had a positive effect on yield and its components and caused yield increase under saline conditions. Increase in salt levels had a negative and significant effect on seed yield, number of seeds per pod, number of pod per plant, pod length and plant ...

A submerged floating tunnel (SFT) is propounded as an efficacious alternative to conventional bridges and underground/submerged tunnels for crossing deep waterways. SFT designers must ensure safe margins and develop approaches to prevail a wide range of plausible situations related to transport, wave, natural vibrations etc. to evaluate the structural stability. To date, only limited researches on this field have been performed to illustrate the significance of seaquake analyses and their effects ...

The effects of base-isolation on the seismic response of cylindrical vertical flexible liquid storage tanks subjected to horizontal seismic ground motion are presented in this paper. The whole system consists of two main parts: the base-isolation component, and the fluid–structure interaction subsystem. Dynamic analysis of liquid storage tank is achieved through the use of finite shell elements for the structure and internal boundary elements for the liquid region. The boundary element equations ...

A common effective method to reduce the seismic response of liquid storage tanks is to isolate them at base using base-isolation systems. It has been observed that in many earthquakes, the foregoing systems significantly affect on the whole system response reduction. However, in exceptional cases of excitation by long-period shaking, the base-isolation systems could have adverse effects. Such earthquakes could cause tank damage due to excessive liquid sloshing. Therefore, the numerical seismic response ...

The main idea concerned with the design of berm breakwaters is to construct a less expensive structure with reshaping berm. An experimental study on the front slope stability of homogeneous berm breakwaters has been carried out in a large number of 2D model tests at Tarbiat Modares University. In this paper, the results of this experimental study are presented conjointly with a formula for estimation of berm recession as the most important parameter for describing the reshaping. This includes the ...

Abstract Starting from readily available methyl 5‐methyloxazole‐4‐carboxylate ( 1 ) and 4‐methyl‐5‐oxazolylcar‐boxylic acid hydrazide ( 11 ) the title compounds were prepared. The reaction of compound 1 with hydrazine hydrate afforded the corresponding hydrazide 2 . The reaction of compound 2 with formic acid yielded 1‐formyl‐2‐(5‐methyloxazole‐4‐carboxyl)hydrazine ( 3 ). Refluxing of the latter with phosphorus pentasulfide in xylene gave compound 5 in 62% yield. The reaction of compound 3 with phosphorus pentoxide ...

Rock excavation using drill and blast method is commonly used in tunneling world-wide. Drill and blast method has inherent disadvantage of deteriorating surrounding rock mass due to development of a blast-induced damage zone with reduced strength and stiffness parameters and increased permeability. Traditional tunnel analysis adopts same parameters for the entire rock mass, leading to the underestimation of tunnel stability. The blast damage zone with finite thickness is significant in tunnel stability. ...

The precursors were gallium (Ga) metal and nitrogen (N) plasma. The GaN NWs were grown as a result of direct reaction between Ga atoms and excited N atoms in the plasma environment on PSi substrate, without using any catalyst. The main causes of death in patients with severe Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) are acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and multiorgan failure caused by a severe inflammatory cascade. Novel treatment strategies, such as stem-cell-based therapy and their derivatives can be used to relieve inflammation in these cases. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of therapy using mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) and their derived extracellular vesicles in COVID-19 patients.

Results showed that chlorophyll index increases exponentially with soil matric suction, especially at the late season of canola growing time. At moderate matric suction (200 and 300 kPa soil suction heads), chlorophyll index remains nearly constant, but in drier soil (matric suction >300 kPa), chlorophyll index increases gradually with time. Despite ...
