COBALT (II) PHTHALOCYANINE ON THE PATHWAY OF CYSTEINE OXIDATION.The interest in the chemistry of cobalt (II) tetrasulfonated phthalocyanine (PcTsCo) comes mainly from its macrocycle-ligand structure combined with their special chemical characteristics, such as high solubility, well-defined redox reactions and remarkable optical absorption in the visible region. In this work, we use layer-by-layer technique in order to assemble CoTsPc and poly(allylaminehydrochloride) (PAH) in hybrid supramolecular system. ...

Coordination of copper(II) ions by daunomycin and 5-iminodaunomycin has been studied by electron spin resonance spectroscopy, at various values of pH and r, the anthracycline-to-Cu(II) molar ratio. At r = 1–5, polymeric complexes are formed in the case of daunomycin. At r = 5, a mononuclear complex is predominant and at r = 10, this is the only one formed with the 63Cu and 65Cu hyperfine interaction being clearly defined in the g∥ region (g∥ = 2.26, 63A∥ = 175; 65A∥ = 190 G). For 5-iminodaunomycin both chelation ...

The interaction of ammonia with transition metal (Cr, V, Cu)-added WO3, base materials for NH3 gas sensing devices, was investigated by electron paramagnetic resonance. The EPR analysis was carried out on samples obtained as nanosized powders by wet method. It was demonstrated that the addition of transition metal ions promotes the ammonia oxidative dehydrogenation to N2 and N2O, due to trapping of NH3 electrons on Cu(II), V(V) and Cr(V) centres. The higher catalytic efficiency of Cr(V) is relatable ...

Silica-dispersed copper molybdates having different Cu:Mo and Cu:Si molar ratios were prepared both by a sol-gel route and a conventional impregnation technique. These materials, used as catalysts for the propene oxidation, were studied in order to assess whether the different preparation methods and/or different Cu:Mo and Cu:Si molar ratios affected the copper(II) coordination. Electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy showed that oxo/hydroxo-bridged copper(II) dimers were present in xerogel ...

The thermal evolution of sol−gel SnO2-based thin films was explored by investigating their structural and morphological features. Nanostructured SnO2 and Pt-doped SnO2 layers were obtained using tetra(tert-butoxy)tin(IV) and Pt(II) acetlylacetonate as precursors. Films were prepared by spin coating from ethanol solutions with different viscosity. After drying at room temperature, they were annealed in air at 673 and 973 K. The surface morphology was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy, atomic ...

ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) anchored on SiO2 (ZnO/SiO2) demonstrated to be an activator of higher efficiency in the sulfur crosslinking of isoprene rubber (IR) in comparison with conventional microcrystalline ZnO. The better performance of this innovative catalytic filler has been associated with: (i) the faster Zn reaction with stearic acid and curatives, to form the sulfurating complexes at the beginning of the curing process; (ii) the faster formation of large amounts of mono- and di- sulfide cross-linking ...

Periodic structures can be used for vibration control thanks to their vibration attenuation stop bands. The dispersion diagram obtained for the structural unit cell can be used to characterize such wave attenuation bands. Several designs using spatially varying unit cells have recently been reported in the literature. Spatially varying properties can also be used to investigate the effect of variability on finite structures. Therefore, various methodologies to model spatially varying structures ...

The mechanism of NO interaction with nanosized Ru(Pd,Pt)-doped SnO(2) was studied by electron paramagnetic resonance, Mössbauer, and electric resistance measurements. Three steps were proposed for the reaction between the semiconductor oxide and the gaseous component: (i) the formation of bielectronic oxygen vacancies (V(o)) in SnO(2); (ii) their single-ionization (V(o)(*)) with injection of electrons into the SnO(2) conduction band; (iii) the subsequent transfer of electrons from V(o)(*) to [Ru(Pd,Pt)]( ...

A new, fast, one-pot synthesis of SnO2 and Pt−doped SnO2 inverted opal thin films, to be used as materials for gas sensing, was carried out. Films were built from crystalline cassiterite nanoparticles, uniform in size (∼5 nm), resulting in a well-organized hierarchical structure of macro- and mesopores. Austempered ductile iron (ADI) is composed of an ausferritic matrix with graphite nodules and has a wide range of applications because of its high mechanical strength, fatigue resistance, and wear resistance compared to other cast irons. The amount and size of the nodules can be controlled by the chemical composition and austenitizing temperature. As the nodules have lower stiffness than the matrix and can act as stress concentrators, they influence crack propagation. However, the crack propagation ...

Nanostructured (3–6 nm) thin films (80 nm) of SnO2 and Pt-doped SnO2 were obtained by a new sol–gel route using tetra(tert-butoxy)tin(IV) and bis(acetylacetonato)platinum(II) as precursors. EPR and XPS investigations, performed on thin films after interaction with CO, demonstrated that singly ionized oxygen vacancies (Vo) fully transferred their electrons to the noble metal and reduced Pt(IV) to Pt(II). Contact with air at room temperature led to the reduction of O2 to O2−, therefore, re-oxidizing ...
