... paper, we propose a hop count based heuristic routing protocol by utilizing the information carried by the peripatetic packets in the network. A heuristic function is defined to help in making the routing decision. We formally define a custom operation for square matrices so as to transform the heuristic value calculation into matrix manipulation. Finally, the performance of our proposed algorithm is evaluated by the simulation results, which show the advantage of such self-adaptive routing protocol in the diverse circumstance of DTNs.

... and propose a Link Heterogeneity Aware On-demand Routing (LHAOR) protocol, where the link quality and mobility are considered. Specifically, the Local Update (LU) is proposed and the link metric is inversely related with the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI). By using the LU method and RSSI information, the routes adapt to the topology variation and link quality changes, and reach the local optimum quickly, which contains strong links and has a small metric. Simulation and experiment results show that our LHAOR protocol achieves much higher performance than the classical on-demand routing protocols.

Large IP networks cannot be possible without routing protocols providing the appropriate paths between end sites. Many interior gateway routing protocols have been developed based on well known algorithms for IP networks in order to prevent routing loops. Some of these interior gateway routing protocols are RIP, OSPF and EIGRP. Each one of them has its benefits and drawbacks, and the best election depends on many parameters such as the network features, network hardware, few bandwidth wastage, scalability, ...

The border gateway protocol, the interdomain routing protocol for the Internet, allows for a wide variety of routing policies that may interact in unintended and unstable ways. Recent work on BGP and related protocols has begun to incorporate formal protocol models, which have enabled rigorous descriptive analyses of BGP. More recently, such models have been used to give prescriptive guidelines for the design of new protocols. These guidelines include both sufficient conditions for good routing ...

To secure a mobile ad hoc network (MANET) in adversarial environments, a particularly challenging problem is how to feasibly detect and defend possible attacks on routing protocols, particularly internal attacks, such as a Byzantine attack. In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm that detects internal attacks by using both message and route redundancy during route discovery. The route-discovery messages are protected by pairwise secret keys between a source and destination and some intermediate ...

Distance vector routing protocols (e.g., RIP) have been widely used on the Internet, and are being adapted to emerging wireless ad hoc networks. However, it is well-known that existing distance vector routing protocols are insecure due to: 1) the lack of strong authentication and authorization mechanisms; 2) the difficulty, if not impossibility, of validating routing updates which are aggregated results of other routers. In this paper, we introduce a secure routing protocol, namely S-RIP, based on ...

While proceeding towards the age of Internet of Things (IoT), Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is going to play an indispensable role in the overall networking architecture. Applications like health care, smart-city etc. are extensively using WSN frameworks to collect and analyse real-time data along with taking necessary actions based on the application’s requirements. While designing the routing protocol for WSN, the uniqueness and requirements of the application have the potential to play a dominant ...

The geographic routing protocol only requires the location information of local nodes for routing decisions, and is considered very efficient in multi-hop wireless sensor networks. However, in dynamic wireless sensor networks, it increases the routing overhead while obtaining the location information of destination nodes by using a location server algorithm. In addition, the routing void problem and location inaccuracy problem also occur in geographic routing. To solve these problems, a novel fuzzy logic-based geographic routing protocol (FLGR) is proposed. The selection criteria and parameters ...

ABVCap routing guarantees packet delivery without the computation and storage of the global topological features. Finally, we demonstrate an approach, ABVCap maintenance, to reconstruct an ABVCap virtual ...

WRP reduces the number of cases in which a temporary routing loop can occur, which accounts for its fast convergence properties.
