This paper presents a comparative analysis of performance between integer order proportional derivative (IOPD) and fractional order proportional derivative (FOPD) controllers for the trajectory tracking of a ball in ball and plate system. The controllers are designed minimising integral square error using Bat Algorithm, Gravitational Search Algorithm, and Firefly Algorithm. Effectiveness of the controllers is tested by the ability of the ball to track a circular, square, cardioid, and star shaped ...

Abstract This paper presents a level control problem of a coupled two tank single input single output (SISO) system. A cascade control strategy is adopted having a fractional order proportional integral (FOPI) controller and fractional order proportional derivative (FOPD) controller in the outer and the inner loops, respectively. Cascaded integer order proportional integral (IOPI) and integer order proportional derivative (IOPD) controllers are also designed to compare the performances. A frequency domain ...

This paper presents a comparative study between a sliding mode controller and a fractional order sliding mode controller applied to the problem of trajectory control of a ball in a ball and plate system. The ball and plate system is a well-known benchmark to test advanced control strategies because of its multivariable nonlinear coupled dynamics, open loop instability, parameter uncertainty, and under actuation. A cascaded sliding mode controller is initially designed to mitigate the problem. Furthermore, ...

A new multi-wing chaotic system with some unusual properties is reported in this paper. Here, the number of wings and the amplitude of the chaotic attractor depend on (i) simulation time, (ii) initial conditions, and (iii) system parameters. The amplitude and number of wings of the multi-wing chaotic attractor are not reaching to a fixed chaotic attractor, as in the case of other chaotic systems like Lorenz, even after a very large simulation time of 800000 s. On the other hand, the Lyapunov exponents ...

A multi-wing chaotic attractor with higher value of the largest Lyapunov exponent is more useful for its practical applications. This paper proposes a new design technique to generate multi-wing chaotic attractors from two-wing chaotic attractors, available in the literature. The Chen and the Lu systems are considered for demonstration. A nonlinear term of the original system is multiplied by a nonlinear function to generate multi-wings attractors. The number of wings is changed by varying the number ...

The paper reports a modified 4D autonomous hyperchaotic system with an unusual characteristic. The modified system exhibits dissipative behavior for some ranges of a parameter and conservative behavior for the other ranges of the same parameter. Thus, there is a switching between dissipative and conservative behaviors of the proposed system. In the conservative range, the system exhibits chaotic orbit. Again in the dissipative range, the system, with its considered sets of parameters, exhibits strange ...

Chaotic systems with cyclic symmetry are very rare and have been less discussed in the literature. Similarly, megastable oscillators, which can have a finite or infinite number of coexisting attractors, have also attracted researchers. We propose a class of cyclic symmetry oscillators with the megastable property with infinite coexisting attractors for the first time in the literature. Various dynamical properties of the proposed oscillators are discussed in detail. An application for the detection ...

In the last two years, many chaotic or hyperchaotic systems with megastability have been reported in the literature. The reported systems with megastability are mostly developed from their dynamic equations without any reference to the physical systems. In this paper, the dynamics of a single-link manipulator is considered to observe the existence of interesting dynamical behaviors. When the considered dynamical system is excited with (a) periodically forced input or (b) quasi-periodically forced ...

Abstract The aim of this study was to identify stable rice genotypes tolerant to a salt stress environment and to identify ideal mega-environments using AMMI (additive main effects and multiplicative interaction) stability model analysis. A total of 13 rice genotypes and three salt tolerance checks were evaluated across 13 salt stress locations (alkaline and saline) for the two kharif seasons of 2014 and 2015. Genotype CSR 36 (CHK3) was found to be the most ideal of those tested. Genotypes CHK2 (CST ...

Maitreyee Dutta, Binoy Krishna Roy,
Through this manuscript, the intentions of the authors are to present a new memductance-based fractional-order chaotic system. The new chaotic system shows coexisting single to double wings attractors for some typical values of initial conditions. Furthermore, a fixed-time convergence technique is applied for synchronisation between two identical proposed chaotic systems as the master and slave systems. This synchronisation technique is robust against bounded disturbances and parametric uncertainties. ...
