A two-dimensional device modeling for polycrystalline silicon thin-film solar cells was performed. A ThRee-dimensional Emitter Based on Locally Enhanced diffusion (TREBLE) concept was applied to evaluate the degree of leveling of the device efficiency. The model assumes a n + -p-p + junction device of a 3-μm grain size and 10-μm-thick polycrystalline Si columnar structure unit, where the n + regions extend along the grain boundaries. The analysis was carried out using ISE-DESSIS, a two-dimensional semiconductor ...

Mammalian oocyte meiotic divisions are highly asymmetric and produce a large haploid gamete and 2 small polar bodies. This relies on the ability of the cell to break symmetry and position its spindle close to the cortex before anaphase occurs. In metaphase II–arrested mouse oocytes, the spindle is actively maintained close and parallel to the cortex, until fertilization triggers sister chromatid segregation and the rotation of the spindle. The latter must indeed reorient perpendicular to the cortex ...

Nucleoside diphosphate (NDP) kinases are metabolic enzymes found ubiquitously in cells. Recently, two known human isoforms of NDP kinase (A and B), identical to the protein products of the genesnm23-H1andnm23-H2,respectively, have been implicated in cancer metastasis and transcriptional regulation. To date, NDP kinase has been studied extensively in tissue sections and its cellular localization was described as being cytoplasmic. However, the recently discovered role of thenm23-H2gene product in transcriptional ...

The role of the Chief Executive Officer (hereafter, CEO) in financial reporting is almost universally assumed to be significant (Carcello, Neal, Palmrose & Scholz, 2011; Cohen, Krishnamoorthy, & Wright, 2002; Connelly, 2005; Paredes, 2004). While academics and regulators agree that the CEO can have a large impact on financial reporting decisions, there is very little research on how individual CEO characteristics actually influence the financial reporting process. This paper examines the impact of one ...
