Data on the reproductive biology and laboratory management of Philander frenata are presented here. Sensory contact before pairing increased breeding success and reduced aggression between pairs. Gestation period was 13–14 days, with a post-lactation oestrous. Births occurred only between August and February. Mean litter size at birth and at weaning was 5.5 (SD=2.4) and 4.0 (SD=1.9), respectively. Sex ratio at birth was statistically biased toward males. The timing of weaning was established at between ...

In this paper, we present a new shape analysis approach using the well-known wavelet transform and exploring shape representation by landmarks. First, we describe the approach adopted to represent the landmarks data as parametric signals. Then, we show the relation of the derivatives of Gaussian wavelet transform applied to the signal-to-differential properties of the shape that it represents. We present experimental results using real data to show how it is possible to characterize shapes through ...

Abstract Recent studies have focused on the effect of large tropical cyclones (hurricanes) on the shore, neglecting the role of less intense but more frequent events. Here we analyze the effect of the offshore tropical storm Melissa on groundwater data collected along the North America Atlantic coast. Our meta‐analysis indicates that both groundwater level and specific conductivity significantly increased during Melissa, respectively reaching maximum values of 1.09 m and 25.2 mS/cm above pre‐storm ...
