Abstract Although the last two decades have seen a broad improvement in overall survival, colorectal cancer is still the second leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide. Patient populations continue to face poor disease prognoses due to the challenges of early detection and the molecular subtypes driving their colorectal cancer. Consequently, many patients present with metastatic colorectal cancer, which often limits options and shifts treatment focus away from curative interventions. BRAFV600E ...

Skin biopsies revealed a bland, storiform, spindle-cell proliferation involving the deep dermis and subcutaneous fat. By immunohistochemistry, the tumor cells were diffusely positive for CD34 and caldesmon with multifocal reactivity for epithelial membrane antigen and focal, weak staining for smooth muscle actin. Anthropogenic CO2 is a major driver of the present ocean acidification. This latter is threatening the marine ecosystems and has been identified as a major environmental and economic menace. This study aims to forecast from the thermodynamic equations, the acidification variation (ΔpH) of the Mediterranean waters over the next few decades and beyond this century. In order to do so, we calculated and fitted the theoretical values based upon the initial conditions from data of the 2013 MedSeA cruise. ...

Free-floating right heart thrombus (RHT) is an extreme medical emergency in the context of acute massive pulmonary embolism (PE). Despite the advances in early diagnosis, the management is still very debatable due to lack of consensus. We reported the case of a 66-year-old male, with a history of moderate renal dysfunction and dilated cardiomyopathy, who presented to the emergency department for acute dyspnea. His angiographic magnetic resonance imaging revealed bilateral extensive PE. Transthoracic ...

In the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN, the powering of the main dipole and quadrupole circuits is divided into eight separate powering sub sectors due to the very high magnetic energy stored in these circuits and to protection constraints of the superconducting magnets [1]. As a consequence, individual sector currents must be controlled with very high accuracy in amplitude and time to ensure that the beam of particles sees the same magnetic field in all sectors. This results in a requirement ...

Purpose FGFR genetic aberrations (GAs) occur in an estimated 10% to 16% of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinomas (CCAs). The natural history of CCA with FGFR GAs, the prognostic role of coexisting GAs, and the outcome with FGFR-targeted inhibitors are unknown. Patients and Methods Patients with CCA with FGFR GAs were identified using next-generation sequencing or fluorescence in situ hybridization from four tertiary cancer centers and compared with FGFR wild-type counterparts. Data reviewed included demographic, ...

Verticillium dahliae Kleb. is a soilborne pathogen causing Verticillium wilt disease on several hosts. The pathogen survival structure (i.e., microsclerotia) can be efficiently spread by different dispersal methods. In the present study, the medium to long dispersal spread of the pathogen through rivers and irrigation canals was investigated. Samples of sediments (n = 29) were gathered from eight Lebanese rivers and three regional irrigation canals, in addition to samples of soil particles and plant ...
